August 28, 2015 Chrysaora colorata is the scientific name for what is more commonly known as the purple striped jellyfish. It definitely lives up to its name, on it’s transparent, shimmering white bowl shaped Bell which contrast the twelve to sixteen striking purple strips going down it. It is a predator of zooplankton, copepods, larval fish, ctenophores, salps, other jellies, and fish eggs (Montereybayaquarium.com). Also it as many other relatives living amongst it including Pacific Sea nettle, other jellyfish, sea anemones, and coral. All these wonderful things make up the purple striped jellyfish (aqua.org).
It has radial symmetry which means you can divide that organism in half and the two halves

These marine species inhabit mostly coastal water. They like warmer water and they dwell in anywheres from zero feet all the way down to sixteen thousand feet. They do have many predators so they always have to be on the defense. Some of their predators include sunfish, sea turtles, tuna, butterfish, spiny dogfish, and blue rockfish. Even though jellyfishes do have tentacles that release nematocysts which injects the animal with toxins, it does not stop animals from eating it because some animals are immune to their sting. Don’t worry the purple striped jellyfish is not endangered. These jellyfish survive anywheres from two to six months but they come from humble beginnings. Death is often caused by rough waters. This type of jellyfish reproduce sexually. Which mean not by themselves they have a partner. They produce year around which is easy for them to do because they live in aggregation otherwise known as groups, which makes it easier for them to find a sexually partner. The only difference between a male and the female is the thickness of the follicles. so make sure it’s the right partner you want, The male then releases gamete from his gonads, sperm and ova is released from the mouth and they fertilize externally. Since they reproduce externally that means there is no polyp stage and they are widely spread out due to currents. The planula larva develops directly into the ephyra stage. The ephyra quickly grows into an adult
Teeghan Guess Ms. Delong February 7, 2018 Practical Law Cyntoia Brown Cyntoia Brown, a sixteen year old accused of first degree murder has an interesting past, but does that justify her wrongdoing? Cyntoia’s biological mother had Cyntoia at sixteen and was no ready to be a mother. Her mom struggled with alcoholism, drug addiction, and even prostitution. So her mother gave Cyntoia to Ellenette Brown who would be Cyntoia’s adoptive mother. As Cyntoia got older she began to have control issues, became manipulative, and was very possessive of her adoptive mother Ellenette.
The hammerheads have an unusual behavior of forming schools that can have as many as 500 sharks. They stay together in the daytime and separate at night. This practice provides protection against larger predators. Hammerheads do not have mates for life. The female gestational period is 12 to 18 months and they can produce 10 to 17 offspring at a time!
In recent readings about Cyntoia Brown, who according to Willingham, previously was a victim of human sex trafficking, is now serving a life sentence for murder. The source reports that Brown suffered from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, grew up in an abusive home and ran away from her adoptive parent’s house prior to becoming involved in prostitution in Nashville. She was staying with different people and using drugs and alcohol. As a runaway, she then met a 24-year-old pimp named "Cut Throat," who eventually began physically and sexually abusing her, and forced her into prostitution according to Willingham. The article states that on August 7, 2004, Brown testified she was solicited for sex by 43-year-old Johnny Mitchell Allan, who picked her up near a Sonic parking lot and drove her back to his house.
The Chelonia mydas most commonly known as the green sea turtle is 4ft turtle who spends majority of their life under the sea. Weighing in on average at 350 pounds at adult their symmetry is radial. Protecting their body is a hard shell that is like an oval-heart shape. Their shell and body both consist of brown and olive tones with a yellow underbelly. The babies shells consist of darker brown shades and white underbelly.
The head is a fuse to the first segment of the thorax. The thorax is composed of seven segments, each contains one pair of similar size joint legs. When they expose to moisture, only pill bugs roll up to a ball while sow bugs lack of the ability as they
For this experiment, we studied how planarian worms would grow after being segmented. To begin this experiment, we filled up petri dishes half-way with spring water, this is so the planarian worms would not dehydrate and die during the two weeks we were observing them. Next, the planarian worm was picked up from its container with a pipette and then placed in a separate petri dish with some water. This took some time and I ended up having to use a pick to get the planarian worm off the inside walls of the pipette. Once the worm was in the petri dish, a razor was used to cut the worm in half, creating a “head” and “tail” segment of the worm.
It lives in waters around 2000 feet deep. They live in Coral Reefs, and they are the only catfish that do. The Coral Catfish was discovered in 1982 in the Indo Pacific. A few facts about the Coral Catfish is they have barbells on their mouth, they have a poisonous spine, and they swim in spheres. Many people keep Coral Catfish as pets, so without them many people could not have as cool homes.
Anemone fish, also called clown fish, live nestled among the tentacles of stinging anemones. Scientists have found that these fish have a special layer of saliva that keeps the anemones from stinging them. Clown fish need the security they find in their anemones: the anemones' stings keep fish predators away, and a clown fish never lives without its host anemone. The partnership may benefit the anemones, as well they get scraps of food dropped by the Clown fish as they eat. And the aggressive and territorial Clown fishes may defend their anemones by driving away Butterfly fishes and other anemone-eating fishes.
Large numbers can also be found along inshore islands and in shallow mangrove channels. They live where seagrass is plentiful as that is their main source of food and nutrition. They usually inhabit waters at an average depth of around 10m and sporadically dive down to up to 39m to feed. The activity the dugongs are doing determines the habitat. For example, for calving a potential or suitable habitat would be the shallow estuaries and tidal sandbanks.
In Yellow Wallpaper,The Chrysanthemums and Boys and Girls women/girls role in society is often limited. In yellow wallpaper John’s wife is suffering from postpartum depression. John does not let her do anything even write in her diary or read. In chrysanthemums Elisa is the best at what she does which is planting chrysanthemums. A guy came to Elisa in a wagon and told her i travel and fix pots for a living.
They also have lights on the side of their body to attract prey in the dark. They are a bioluminescent creature which mean that they have lights on their body that they can activate. They have lights on the bottom of their body that they use as a defense mechanism to get away from predators like sharks, dolphins and the dragon fish and those are their main predators and when they see the light under the Viperfish they believe it's the faint light from the top side so they just ignore them. When it's daylight they hunt at depths of 1500 meters or 5000 feet and when it starts to turn night time they go to shallow waters of about 600 meters or 2000 feet where it is more active and alive with creatures that they can feed on.
Their food consists of crabs (their favorite food), crustaceans, cephalopods, and small fishes such as mullet, eels, jacks, snappers, pinfish, croakers, grunts, and herring. Their predators of cobias are dolphin fish (Coryphaena hippurus) that is known to feed on immature cobia. Also, the shortfin mako sharks are known to feed on adult cobia. Reproduction and life history:
The axolotl becomes a young larva, still without limbs in stage 3. Their limbs will start to develop in stage 4. The axolotl’s age is now about 2 weeks. The front legs take form first, and afterwards its hind legs will develop. In the fifth and final stage A. mexicanum becomes sexually mature.
Invasive species interact with the global health of ecosystems; cause great damage to natural systems and are a huge cost to society as a whole (1). Biologists and environmentalists are alarmed that the invasions of these species could lead to large-scale declines and extinction of native species (3). There are approximately 50,000 foreign species Living in the United States, causing major environmental damages which costs add up to about $120 billion a year. It is believed that about 42% of the threatened or endangered species are at risk because of invasive species (4).
The haploid spores are produced in a sporangium. Each spore divides mitotically to produce a heart-shaped gametophyte. Male and female parts are developed on the same plant. Gametophyte is small in size and can photosynthesize. In order for the fertilization to take place, enough water should be available so that the sperm may swim to archegonia and fertilize the eggs.
