Christianity is the belief that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah talked about in the Old Testament who was sent to Earth by God in order to die for everyone’s sins and promise them everlasting life if they follow him and his word. Christianity is an Abrahamic Monotheistic religion that started in the 1st century AD in the region of Judaea under the Roman Empire. Many believe that Jesus Christ is the founder of Christianity, due to him laying the foundation and groundwork for Christianity. Whereas, the Apostle Paul is viewed as the great interpreter of Jesus’ mission and as one of the most important and influential figures in Christian history. This affirmation rejects any and every form of dualism, that matter has eternally existed, or that matter must, therefore, be evil since it is in principle opposed to God, who is the source of all good. The Christian worldview states that God is set apart from and transcends His creation. In Christianity, they do not call them rituals but rather the Seven Sacraments, Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Ordination, Marriage, Reconciliation, and the Anointing of the Sick. The two most important sacraments are the Eucharist and Baptism. Baptism is the rite of initiation, a ritualistic cleansing by water. It is also a sign of repentance. The Eucharist, or communion, is the blessing and partaking of bread and wine that symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ. This practice is to memorialize the sacrificial action of Jesus Christ. Christianity holds the belief of life after death. Christians believe that everyone who lives will meet God and go through the “Day of Judgement”. Christians believe that because of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, they have been forgiven for any wrongdoing they have done and asking God for forgiveness will earn God’s favor and receive the gift of eternal life after death. Christian’s worship and practice their faith in churches, and find it customary to worship on Sunday, the Sabbath. Church services are led by an ordained priest, minister or pastor.
