Between 1976 and 1977, the Metro Detroit area was gripped with fear due to the Oakland County Child Killer case. At least four children were killed, and local area residents are still trying to get a resolution for these unsolved child murders in Michigan. Also known as the Babysitter Killer, there are many people who believe that Chris Busch was the Oakland County Child Killer. Unfortunately, despite a lot of notable evidence and a large public outcry, the police never got past the initial questioning phase with any of the suspects.

Sadly, this means that the four children who lost their lives may never have justice. Instead, they join numerous other famous cases involving unsolved celebrity murders and unsolved family murders.
A disturbing drawing was discovered when suspect Chris Busch's room was searched in 1978. It depicts a young boy screaming, most likely in fear or pain. The image is a shockingly close rendering to the first victim, Mark Stebbins. For some reason, though, the families of the victims weren't told that the drawing existed until decades later. Additionally, although the Oakland County Child Killer task force was notified about the pencil drawing in 1978, it does not appear to have had any notable impact on the investigation.
John Wayne Gacy was apprehended in 1978 and charged with more than 30 murders. Gacy was reportedly in Michigan during at least part of the time when the Oakland County Child Killer was active. This alone probably wouldn't have been enough to raise suspicions. Three other child murders were suspected of being linked to the Oakland County Child Killer. The brutal death of 14-year-old Sheila Srock was eventually blamed on Oliver Rhodes Andrews. However, the remaining two cases are still unsolved. If the Oakland County Child Killer was also responsible for the deaths of James Davison and Cynthia Cadieux, that puts the total body count at six. It would also mean that the killer was first active in 1974 instead of 1976.
Victim Timothy King's father is an attorney, and he repeatedly lobbied for more information about the case until he was finally given thousands of pages from the Oakland County Child Killer task force and FBI files.
