Today, leadership is considered to be more art than science. Equally observable is that those who engage in leadership invoke a variety of leadership styles and traits that can vary greatly, and yet can be equally successful in a variety of situations. No one could deny the tremendous leadership skills of Martin Luther King, but at the same time, for example, do not highlight the skills and success of General Schwarzkopf in crushing the army of enemies. His charisma combined with other leadership characteristics made him one of the most significant leaders of the modern world. He as a charismatic leader did not merely inspire but generated unusually passionate reactions in his followers. The result of his actions is that deedless followers became active, and they proceeded to motivate others while furthering the purpose and mission of the leader. One more thing had connected Dr. King with the crowd of people, with that society - empathy. “Empathy is an antidote. People who have it are attuned to subtleties in body language; they can hear the message beneath the words being spoken. Beyond that, they have a deep understanding of both the existence and the importance of cultural and ethnic differences.” (Goleman, 2010). Martin Luther King was able to use the empathic approach and look at the issues objectively to achieve the desired outcomes effectively. He felt the pain of discrimination, he fought against it. For example, “the family faced frequent harassment from white supremacist groups,”. This suggests that Malcolm X had a longer experience with harassment and racism which gives him a different side from MLK. An example of why MLK grew up safely is, “Martin Luther King Jr entered school at age 5, skipped two grades in high school, and entered Morehouse College.” MLK grew up in a different
Not all leadership styles are the same, especially when supporting different messages. A perfect example would be Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, as both were great leaders of the Civil Rights Movement but both supported different ideas, and with different ways of supporting those ideas. In his “I Have a Dream” speech at the March on Washington in 1963, Dr King had a very optimistic and inspirational tone. He used things like imagery to support the idea of reaching racial equality through integration instead of segregation. Dr. King grew up living in a very loving and stable home.
Cool Hand Luke Test Option (A) Cool Hand Luke showed many rebellious attitudes throughout his incarceration on the chain gang. This rebellious attitude could be an insight to the human spirit as it calls out to never give up and to be persistent in what one believes. Cool Hand Luke’s rebellion could be seen in his fighting with actor George Kennedy.
Martin Luther King was one of the most influential and inspiring people in US history. He devoted all his life to the development and integration of minorities in the country, such as blacks and the poor, and to gain rights and freedom for all. Through his journey towards the goal of equality, he used nonviolent tactics. However, these tactics were ineffective as long time was needed, their aims are not fully accomplished, and more sacrifice had happened. Martin Luther King’s nonviolent tactics were ineffective as it took long time and still Montgomery stayed as a segregated town after boycott.

It was on April 4th, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. King was staying at the Lorraine Motel when he was standing outside the balcony when he got shot in his neck. King’s dedication to rail against the injustices of the racially tense South and refusal to hide from the public eye for his own safety gained him the recognition as one of the most monumental martyr figures in the 20th Century. Dr. King, motivated by his strong religious affiliations, refused to encourage violence amongst his protestors. Instead, he trained protesters to resist police brutality and to look out for one another ("Martin Luther King Jr.-Biography"). This refusal to fight violence with violence took away some of the police force’s justification for utilizing physical aggression against the black American protestors. In this world there are many leaders, some do not listen to other people and are very stubborn. Others listen to their supporters and critics to make their decisions thus leaving behind their own opinions and thoughts. A strong leader in this century should doggedly stick to their idea because they should not become too flexible and be very strict to apply the correct rules and regulations for a good society. Martin Luther Kind Junior is a very good example of this belief making sure that his voice was heard through his people, and on the other hand George W. Bush did not follow these guidelines.
