Boo Radley is the “Mockingbird” within the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee. “The mockingbird, a serene creature with nothing but beautiful music to offer…. often people respond to situations because of the unknown or past rather than the truth” (Stiltner 1). A Mockingbird is a bird that does nothing but sing beautiful songs. In the book, this symbolizes people that do nothing but good in their lives but are still misjudged because of prejudice. “It was a melancholy little drama, woven from bits and scraps of gossip and neighborhood legend: Mrs Radley had been beautiful until she married Mr. Radley and lost all her money. “Suddenly he was jerked backwards and flung on the ground….Still but for a man breathing heavily, breathing heavily and staggering. I thought he went to the tree and leaned against it. He coughed violently, a sobbing bone shaking cough.” (Lee 351). A man (Bob Ewell) is coughing, breathing heavily, and staggering after being pushed off of Scout and we know the man who pushed Bob Ewell off of Scout is Boo Radley. Boo Radley just saved Scout and Jem’s lives. If it wasn’t for him, Bob Ewell would have killed both of them. Boo yet again does nothing but good for them. In today’s world, many muslims are given the stereotype of being terrorists. This is far from the truth, most muslims are peaceful people but they are given this stereotype because of the muslim terrorists out there and how little most people know about muslim culture. This relates back to Mockingbirds and how they are people that do good but are misjudged because of prejudice. In addition to this, Scout began to slowly realize that there were now four people under the tree (Lee 351). After the fight ends, Bob Ewell is dead and the heroic man is carrying Jem back to the Finch’s house. When Scout comes face to face with the heroic man she never notices that he is Boo Radley because she’s never seen him until this event. Additionally, Atticus wants to tell the whole county of this incident but, Scout opposes this idea. She understands Boo and why he chooses to stay inside and fears the people.
Scout quickly assumed it was Boo Radley, because he hasn't come out of his house in years. People have told rumors about how he looks and how he is mentally unstable. Boo Radley is an isolated neighbor who everyone leaves alone. He is a symbol for innocence and kindness. In the novel, Boo Radley's character is talked about alot and we know many things about him in a way. It portrays him as a misunderstood character and he is compared to the Mockingbird because he doesn’t bother anyone so he shouldn’t be bothered. However, the film doesn’t say as much about Boo.

In the story Boo Radley plays the role of Scout and Jem’s guardian angel. He watches over them and helps them when they get into trouble. In the first chapters, the kids make fun of Boo, they taunt him. All they know about him is what they have heard, that he is a crazy man. Throughout the story though, Boo proves them wrong.
Multiple characters are symbolized as mockingbirds because it would be a sin to kill them as they only try and want to be a kind, civil person. Boo Radley is a misunderstood, and kind-hearted man who is represented as a mockingbird in the novel. At times when Boo leaves his home he doesn't harm anyone instead, he leaves Jem and Scout presents, covers Scout with a blanket during the fire, and eventually saves the children from Bob Ewell. Despite the pureness of his heart, however, Boo has been damaged by an abusive father. In the novel it says, “A man was passing under it. The man was walking with the staccato steps of someone carrying a load too heavy for him. He was going around the corner. He was carrying Jem (352).” The person Scout was talking about was Boo Radley, she had never seen him before, but had heard bad rumors about Boo.
The mockingbirds in this story are Boo Radley (Arthur Radley), Mayella Ewell, and Tom Robinson. Arthur Radley is a mockingbird because he has the mind of a child and looks after the kids in the book because he wants to be friends he also knew what the outside world was like and never went out. “Autumn again and boo’s children needed him”(pg.322). Boo was always there for the children and watched over them like a father or friend.

Just like people target the mockingbird, people would tend to target Boo Radley. Boo Radley was innocent of all the crimes people claim he committed, but he just desires to stay inside and keep to himself. While reading the novel, I believe he yearns to stay inside because he does not wish to face the false rumors that have been spread about him. One of the last ways Boo is symbolized by the mockingbird is Boo protects Scout and Jem from harm. The mockingbird also protects people, not in the obvious ways, but the mockingbird sings music to comfort people and cause them to feel safe.
In fact, the mockingbird is portrayed by Boo Radley, Tom Robinson and Mr. Raymond. Firstly, Boo Radley represents the mockingbird because he had no evil intentions against anyone. For instance, when Heck Tate was aware of boo’s situation and he knew that he didn’t mean any harm. Boo Radley represents one of the “mockingbirds” in the book, and a mockingbird is someone that is pure and innocence in the world. He is a good person that is hurt by the evil of mankind. In a lot of ways, Boo Radley might have have wanted to stay shut up in his house after seeing some of the awful acts that the townspeople have committed. But after seeing the Finch kids being attacked by Bob Ewell he had no choice but to leave the comfort of his own home that he has been enclosed in for so long to come out and save them. All though it would have been easier for this man to stay in his house rather than leave and then be drug into court, he did what he knew would be right and rescued the

Widespread are the rumors of Mr. Radley murdering people and roaming the town at night, and according to Miss Stephanie Crawford, Radley’s neighbor, staring in people’s windows at night, according to Miss Stephanie Crawford, Radley’s neighbor. But are they true? For the first time in over 15 years, Mr. Radley has agreed to talk with someone outside of his immediate family. All I can say is that the rumors are completely wrong.
