Changes In Night By Elie Wiesel

Night is a book where a baby was used as a shooting target. This was one of the first things that started to change Elie Wiesel. Eile Wiesel is the writer and the main character of the book Night. Eile was one of the lucky people who survived the traumatic hardships of the holocaust and who could educate the world about it. Overall, Eile is a dynamic character because his faith, feelings, and mindset changed throughout the book.

Change will always occur, and can shape how a character in a book can react to many different situations. In the book Night by: Elie Wiesel, Eliezer drastically transforms throughout the story of the holocaust. In this book, Eliezer and his father are sent to Auschwitz, then are transferred to a concentration camp.

In the text Night by Elie Wiesel, Eliezer suffered a full dreadful year in a concentration camp. This allows for lots of changes to him, and his thoughts. Throughout this novel Elie experienced a lot of significant alterations. A couple of main changes include his loss of religion, his reactions to traumatic situations, and his feelings towards his father. Although there are many shifts in Wiesel throughout his time in the concentration camp system, there are three notable quotes where change is present.

There were over 23 concentration camps that killed Jews over the course of the Holocaust, Over 6 million Jews died. In the book “Night” by Elie Wiesel he shares his traumatic experience during the holocaust and how he and his dad navigated concentration camps. In comparison Anne Frank's “The diary of a young girl” talks about how she and her family had a safe place to hide while others were dying. In both books we can see that the main character's environment shapes their behaviors and beliefs, Even though both characters went through the holocaust differently they were still both highly affected.

Night by Elie Wiesel includes one horrific story when the Jews are being transported on trains. Bread is thrown into the trains by Germans standing by. This story tells us how relationship between fathers and sons changed. The relationship between fathers and sons is one of the strongest bond you can have.

After all, they were both able to leave lasting impressions on the world. Based on the memoir, Night by Elie Weisel, Elie writes about his experiences during the holocaust from getting taken to the holding camp to being released. Throughout the book, it was transparent of Elies will to survive, while Elie was selfish and afraid he also consistently showed resilience and determination that demonstrated his drive to survive in the camps. Experiences that Change Us Elie Wiesel grew up in the Transylvanian town of Sighet. Everyday Elie would study Talmud, as Elie’s father, who was highly respected in the Jewish Community in Sighet, told him to, but Elie yearned to study Kabbalah. To Elie’s dismay, his father would not approve and said, “There are not Kabbalists in Sighet”. This led to Elie asking the town beggar, Moishe the Beadle, to teach him Kabbalah. Moishe represents an earnest commitment to Judaism, as Elie goes on to lose faith in God.

Most commonly known for writing the award winning book Night, Elie Wiesel was a Jewish writer, professor, political activist, and Holocaust survivor. Night is about Wiesel's time in Auschwitz and Burgenbelsen, his struggle to survive and to retain his belief in God. Wiesel first went to Auschwitz in 1944, was liberated in 1945, but he didn’t start writing Night until 1959. This time gap between his release and his writing, which allowed Wiesel to gain perspective, gives Night the introspective tone that makes the story of Wiesel’s time in concentration camps so captivating. Throughout these concentration camps, Elie undergoes a lot of suffering and adversity to make it out alive. It is impossible to comprehend the amount of distress and terror this little boy, along with the other Jews, had gone through.

At just 15 Eliezer Wiesel gets taken to Auschwitz, then Birkenau, and eventually Buna where he spends most of his time during the Holocaust. During his time at Buna, he is essentially starved and beaten repeatedly. Nevertheless, he survives and is liberated in a camp called Buchenwald.
