Challenges Of Going Back To School

Going back to school at my age was a big decision, one that I didn’t make overnight. I knew that trying to go back to school while raising my grandchildren was not going to be an easy task, but I knew this had to be done. My current job does not pay much money and the money I receive from Social Services is inadequate, so my solution is to go to school to get better job. The first semester has been by far the most challenging thing I have ever faced this year. One of those challenges is making back and forth from to class while trying to work. The second challenge is trying to work and complete projects and assignments on time. I feel that going to school is for the better-good, because with more education I can get a better job and better pay to support my family. Failure is not an option. Second, when I made the decision to go back to college, I was not prepared for projects and assignments being due at the same time. This is something I should have researched more and by taking a full class load in my first semester seemed to have made it worse. I am receiving a Pell grant, so I was thinking that I could take classes equaling 12 credits, to get as many as I could in a semester, to graduate on time, but that was a bad idea. I was so unaware that most of my work would be online along with in class instruction and most assignments would be due at same time. Also, the discussion boards were a thing that would be graded. So, trying to handle five classes; two online and three in the class, has been a challenge. The final challenge has been the hardest, which is spending time taking care of my grandchildren. I have custody of them and there is never enough
