The Marx approach focuses on economic factors as the sole reason for conflict in society. He saw society divided into the Bourgeoisie, or the owners of the means of production, and the proletariat, or the workers. Tensions and conflicts occur when the resources, power, and status are unevenly distributed between these two groups, and the conflict can lead to social change. He believed the exploited people would bane together and attempt to bring about changes. The workers would develop a class consciousness and revolt demanding more changes in society, while those with the wealth, power and prestige will continue to try and promote their own interest usually at the expense of the weaker

Since our newest President has been inaugurated, health care is something that is and has been widely debated in our country. Every day, there are hundreds of people who go into hospitals and emergency rooms for treatment and are turned away for lack of health care. The simple truth is, everyone deserves the right to free and favorable health care. One of the many reasons that free health care is the best option for this country is because it saves lives. Every single year, thousands die due to unavailable health care.

Health care should not be considered a political argument in America; it is a matter of basic human rights. Something that many people seem to forget is that the US is the only industrialized western nation that lacks a universal health care system. The National Health Care Disparities Report, as well as author and health care worker Nicholas Conley and Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), strongly suggest that the US needs a universal health care system. The most secure solution for many problems in America, such as wasted spending on a flawed non-universal health care system and 46.8 million Americans being uninsured, is to organize a national health care program in the US that covers all citizens for medical necessities.

I 've learned while conducting these interviews that both indivuials have similar issues within the healthcare system. one of the biggest issues both interviewees faces was the cost of healthcare and health insurance coverage. One of the interviewees has a chronic illness, and at times has to decide if she wants to purchase her needed medication or to buy groceries for herself and her family. The other interviewee although employed, doesn 't have health insurance coverage because its too costly every month. it seems they 're both appreciative of the fact there is a somewhat healthcare system with health care providers and professionals available to them, but feels its only available if you have health insurance coverage.

Health inequalities, task 2: In this essay I will provide sociological analysis of the underlying reasons for the differences in health and provide explanations and reasons of health inequalities. According to the map/graph (I provided), there are variations in health status according to social class, gender and geographical region in the UK. Firstly, it is important to understand what we mean by health inequalities. It is commonly understood that health inequality refers to unjust differences in the health status, usually preventable, between different groups, populations or individuals. One major point that Marx was a firm believer of was the ridding of classes, he believed that the ideal society is one where everyone is equal and class does not exist. He puts capitalism down for have major wage gaps and having people at the very top of the ladder while there are people that can’t even make it onto the ladder. He makes this point by stating that, “the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles” (Marx 79). Marx believed that capitalism should be replaced by communism where everyone can be equal and the working class isn’t exploited while the upper class enjoys luxuries. He was a strong fighter for the proletariat (the working class) to take over power and politics, he was against the bourgeois (the upper class) who had all the money and power at the expense of the proletariat.

There are many reasons to question the goodness of Obama’s proposed health care measure. However, by looking at the bill closed-minded, the true potential is never seen. Of course, continuing with the current United States health care system is perpetually an option, but without reforming the system, expecting to pick up higher costs is inevitable. One matter that Americans need to strive for is making health care more affordable, which is the key to building the United States health care system sustainable once again.
