The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years’ War, began in the mid-1750s and ran for approximately seven years, although timing has been left up to debate. For many years leading up to the Seven Years’ War, the British had its share of wars with France and Spain mainly regarding territory disagreements. This war in particular involved the British colonists wanting to expand westward, essentially for trading purposes, yet the French were not willing to allow that to happen. The Native Americans did not claim land like the British and French did. They had already been living and using the land for their own agriculture and hunting. When the British arrived, however, they did not understand that the land was in use as their agriculture
