Cati Nelson Character Analysis

Where we’re from, who we know, and how our mental makeup is, is very important in our lives. It can be the deciding factor between life in prison and a life dedicated to giving back to others. In The Other Wes Moore, The lives of two young men are examined through three distinct lenses, how the role our environment, social capital (How we get ahead by helping each other) and how our mindset can dictate who we become later on in life. Both of these young men grew up in roughly the same environment, the ghettos of Baltimore, Maryland and the Bronx, New York, respectively.

Billie Jo struggle with a lot of things but her biggest struggle is getting away from the dust. Billie Jo friend Livie Killian is leaving Oklahoma and going to California. Billie Jo says, “And I’m wondering what kind of friend I am, wanting my feet on that road to another place, instead of Livie’s” (9). Billie Jo is feeling guilty because she wishes it was her leaving instead of Livie. Billie Jo, runs away and gets on a train to leave the dust of Oklahoma behind.

Today we’ll be looking into two of our beloved characters from the book Marci and Corin. Within the following paragraph, we’ll look at their personalities, how they are as a character, how are they like throughout the book. We check out their motivation what keeps their wheel spinning day in and day out. Last but not least we’ll look into their strength. The book What night Brings brings us a lot of relatable ongoing conflicts.

Nevaeh Williams is an 18-year old sweet heart literally she has the power to give children of the world sugary or healthy treats. She has beautiful, short blonde hair with blue, pink, and black highlights with her magnificent blue cloths. She believes that blue is for the inner sole and this is why she leaves blue swirls behind her when she flies. Nevaeh has this special gift that's called determination, She never gives up on herself or anyone even the bad guys. When the going gets tough that’s when she knows she gotta be quick and smart.

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” (Helen Keller). An unassisted individual cannot transform an aspect of society. A job as complex as changing the world, essentially is nearly impossible for one person to complete. In history anyone who craved a modification in the world, brought their ideas to the public for support. These dissenters of the past were accomplished in gathering groups of people, to all achieve the same goal.

Cathy Ames has been criticized because she is completely evil. It has expressed throughout the novel that Cathy is inhuman. She has no emotion, no feelings, and no good in her. Many state that she is a symbol for Satan or a witch, who is pawn of Satan. People go so far in declaring that she is one of these evil spirits because even from birth she was filled with extreme evil and darkness, lacking characteristic that make up a human.

The quote “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass it’s about learning how to dance in the rain” means that we should learn how to our lives even at struggling times of our lives. There are times when we are feeling down or going through tough times. Weather it’s bad grades or a tragic event. I can make a text to text connection from this quote. In the book “We Beat The Street” by George W Jenkins, Rameck Hunt, and Sampson Davis, is about a how three african americans from Newark, New Jersey became successful doctors.

Characters' actions are driven by different traits. Above all, bravery drives these actions the most. Yetta from Uprising, Mitty from Code Orange, and Todd Beamer from Let’s Roll! are the three most brave characters introduced in the stories. Their actions significantly affect the stories in which they came. Bravery is the trait that drives characters' actions the most.

A name, in theory, is a word or phrase that helps you recall a person or thing. In practice, a name also helps one recall the person’s or thing’s reputation. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, the characters’ decisions emphasize this quality. Not only does the name include the reputation and legacy of the people they identify, the characters’ choices and behaviors in The Crucible are motivated by the preservation of their dignity and the reputation associated with their names. By assessing the choices made, the inner personality traits of each character can be seen.

Lena Headey once said, “It’s a feeling without a lid, of what you do, physically, verbally, to protect the one thing that is your greatest love.” This is just what Rikki-Tikki is like, he protects the ones he loves without the blink of an eye and tries his hardest to ensure their safety. Kind of like a firefighter, don’t you think? When reading Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, almost everyone will know he is a determined character willing to do anything as long as his loved ones are safe. The theme of the fictional story Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is people are willing to do most anything to protect the ones they love.

Amy Tan’s “Two Kinds,” written in 1989, captures the relationship of a mother and daughter from China that has just relocated to America. So, in the beginning of the short story Tan expresses the mother’s beliefs of America by saying “my mother believed you could be anything you wanted in America” (Tan, Two Kinds, www.rtsd.org). then going into examples such as “You could open a restaurant. You could work for the government and get good retirement and of course, you can be a prodigy, too” (Tan, Two Kinds, www.rtsd.org).

Religion is an instrument of faith and a means of expression. However, in Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Cat’s Cradle, religion is a tool of manipulation, a series of “bittersweet lies” created by Bokonon, a martyr of the people, intended to engage the minds of the natives of San Lorenzo to divert their attention from the myriad of difficulties they encounter. Religion is not the only apparatus of distraction; characters in the novel function to assist with Bokonon’s conspiracy. Mona Aamons Monzano may appear to be a tool of oppression, however she is an instrumental part of implementing the necessary religion of Bokononism into the San Lorenzan society.

One of my favourite characters in this book is Ani Mells. She is this wild, impulsive girl, who is not afraid to speak her mind. Throughout the book, she gets into situations where, she has to pick from doing the right thing, and getting in trouble, or staying quiet. In which, she always chose to do the right thing. I would love to be Ani’s friend, because she follows her heart, never gives up, and is incredibly brave.
