The Catawba was a group of indians that lived on the border of North Carolina near Rock Hill, South Carolina. They called themselves the “river people” because they knew how to live around the water and how to use it to make their lives easier. They also used palisades for protection and traded to get more advanced weapons. Their homes were built out of saplings, grass and reed mats, and bark.
