This a story about Candy and Rufo , our adorable dogs. Candy was rescued for us two years ago. And Rufo was adopted for us one year later. Two years ago it was very quiet at my house in Quito. We were a happy married couple. We bought a beautiful house with a spacious courtyard, and we were thinking about add a dog our home. My husband is a sensitive and sensible person, and he had been around dogs since his childhood and have always loved being in company of them. In contrast, I had never had a dog, but I like them. One day my husband and I received a phone call from my sister. She said me that her husband had found a Labrador puppy. It was abandoned at a park nearly my sister´s house. She wondered if we wanted …show more content…
It is so nice l when we arrive at home and they wag their tail and jump up and down and they give us a kiss. It is important to say that they are very cleaner and educated. Although they spend a lot of time indoors, the house is always clean. Once, because we did not get a person who takes care of them, we took them to the beach, and we had no problem at the hotel. There are several reasons why I think dogs are wonderful creatures. I consider that we can learn a lot from our dogs. Their companionship, loyalty and unconditionally love is unmatched by any human standard. Consequently, we are grateful of the opportunity to adopt such sweet and beautiful dogs. All of us enjoy go to walk and spend time together every day. We will continue to give their love, guidance and patience. They trust us now and know we are their forever. We will have many years of love and joy
Candy is and old man who relies on his dog to act as a companion. Many times it is seen in the novel that he is lonely, and as he sits in his bunk, he does not speak a word to anyone else. As the days go on many of the men in the shack told Candy that his dog “ain’t no good to you Candy. An’ he ain’t no good to himself” (44). Candy is crushed by what the men say, but agree that the only thing he has left from his past needs to die now.
La-Nee Davis remembers as a young girl always having a dog in the house. Her daddy was a dog lover and would oftentimes bring in strays that he found on the street. They had German Shepherds, Pitt Bull mixes and many other breeds. As an adult, her love for dogs has not waned. This is evident when she views the commercials on TV of how animals are abused and neglected, it hurts her heart.
(Page 44). But eventually he is given no other choice and Carlson takes his dog away. When Slim offers a new dog to replace Candy’s old one, he responds with nothing, proving his loyality to his life long companion. ‘“Candy, you can have any one of them pups you want’. Candy did not answer.”
They are great with children and make wonderful family pets. Pit Bulls love to be around people and thrive on human interaction. They are also very intelligent, making them easy to train. With proper socialization and training, Pit Bulls can be very well-behaved and obedient. Pit Bulls are also very loyal and protective, making them great watchdogs.
Candy’s past accomplishments and current emotional involvement to his dog matter very little as Carlson makes clear when he strongly insisted Candy let him put the dog out of its misery. In such a society Candy’s dog represents an unpalatable reminder of the fate that awaits anyone who outlives their usefulness. For a short time, his dream of living out his days with George and Lennie on the farm they dream of buying distracts Candy from his grim reality. He considers the couple acres of land they explain was worthy of his hard earned life long savings, which bespeaks his desperate need to believe there is a kinder world than the one in which he lives. LIke George, Candy grips to the idea of having the amount of freedom to take or set aside work as he
I herded sheep with him. You wouldn’t think if you took a look at him now, but was the best damn sheep dog I ever seen” (62). Through these words we can see Candy really loves his dog. A part in the novel occurs where he is told by the others that due to its old age and other disabilities that he should put his dog down, and to stop its suffering. At first Candy is hesitant and holds out for a while.
It is evident that Candy and his dog show similar traits; by both of them being old, not able to work how they used to, and not really needed on the ranch. Candy isn’t able to put in the amount of work that he wishes he could, and his dog can’t be the excellent sheepdog he used to be because he is much older now. Candy’s dog represents Candy through all the traits they share. This adds development to Candy’s character because when he chooses that it is best for his dog to go, life on the ranch remains the same after and this causes Candy to worry more about himself because he feels the same thing would happen if he were to
In the tale of Mice and Men, Candy's dog gets by one of his friends, Carlson. Candy's dog should have been killed. “Can't eat, can't see, can't walk without hurtin’.” Was what Carlson had pointed out. The dog was too old and in too much pain.
Regardless of Candy’s own feelings he could not spare his dog’s life. The other men did not feel as though he offered anything to them. It may have been felt the action the appropriate action as the dog was an inconvenience to the other
Candy losing his dog affected him poorly to the point where he even wished they had shot him. Candy feels almost worthless after losing his dog because his dog is his only natural companion. Besides That dog, Candy has no companion leaving him lonely and grieving for his lost companion. The joy Candy once felt was
Candy’s dog shows that a companion through life can show a best friend, happiness, and the importance of a relationship. This dog means the world to this old man and is his only friend to give him hope to be alive and enjoy it. Candy sat on the edge of his bunk. He scratched the stump on his wrist nervously. “”I got hurt four years ago,””he said.
” No I couldn’ do that. I had ‘im to long... I’m so used to him,” he said softly. “I had him from a pup”(45).
They are easy to train and gentle with children. They are also reliable, hard workers, in demand as both assistance and search and rescue dogs. (Becker)". But even Retrievers weren 't always breed to be service reliant. in fact retrievers were once bred to be hunting dogs.
