Organized crime is one of my favorite categories to watch because it’s an empire that earns illegal money. Usually the money is earned through prostitution, gambling, bootlegging, and robberies. I believe this is an excellent subject to research because it’s very interesting and I’ve always wanted to be a member of a mafia group during the 1950’s. Al Capone known as one the most famous leaders, he lead the Chicago Outfit, which is the city I live in. Bugsy Siegel is also a famous gangster because he was driving force behind the development of Las Vegas. Not only that he was one the most feared gangsters of his day. Bugsy Siegel was associated with the famous group named “Murder Inc.”. Which wasn’t an actual but the press referred to the mafia as the “Murder Inc.”.
As I’ve sort of discussed Bugsy is a part of the Jewish mob/Murder Inc. Which is a different group from Capone’s. Bugsy was a crazy mobster who was one of the most feared of his time. Bugsy met and formed an alliance with future Syndicate leader. They operated within lower Manhattan, they worked in prostitution and bootlegging. The gang formed into the Syndicate. The Syndicate made a small branch for hit men. The branch was known as Murder Inc. Lansky,

The massacre received so much negative attention, authorities focused on organized crime. Federal Government joined the attention. They arrested Capone for tax evasion. While Capone was in jail, Prohibition ended. The mafia looked for other things to work on. The FBI got involved when they noticed that they were changing the Hollywood movie industry in big ways. Frank Nitti was to spend time in jail for the mafia, but he spent time prison before and didn’t want to go back. He ended up shooting himself in a rail yard in Chicago.
On the infamous Valentine's Day Massacre, a gang related incident where seven men who belonged to a gang run by a man named Moran, were shot. After the Valentine's Day Massacre, Capone was one of the main suspects for the gruesome murders. This motivated the government and police to endeavor towards catching Capone. A team was constructed to search everything that could lead to Capone being arrested. Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel was the first to realize the huge money-making potential of the legalized gambling haven of Las Vegas, Nevada, the American mobster who oversaw the construction of The Flamingo, the city's first luxury casino and hotel in 1940's. Siegel was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 28, 1906, and tragically died at the young age of 41 on June 20, 1947. The nickname “Bugsy” came from a former gang member for his quick and violent temper. The nickname was supposed to be a complement made by the gang member, Siegel did not like it, it reminded him of him being poor in his childhood, that he was trying to leave behind.
Amongst these mafia organizations were Johnny Torrio, Al Capone, Lucky Lucciano, and Salvatore Maranzano who were some of the main mafioso’s that were involved in bootlegging
This was life for the citizens in Chicago, everyone was kept in constant fear for their lives if they ever crossed Capone. The Federal Government knew they had to control the violent city of Chicago by eliminating the Gaffron 2 criminal that was behind it all, Al Capone. This is when our heroes enter, The Untouchables. Capone kept bootlegging and making money. Everything was going good and Capone had everything under control besides the few gangs that kept on trying to take his turf. So eventually Capone got tired of it and ordered them to get executed. Thus leading to the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.
Valentine's Day Massacre was one of Capone's biggest, most notorious, bloodletting of all. His biggest rival was Bugs Moran. He had intervened with so many of Capone's deliveries that Capone decided to take him out. He hired killers and they devised a plan to carry this out and get away with it. On February 14, 1929, Moran had a huge shipment of Canadian whiskey coming in and a few of his members of the gang were awaiting the shipment to come in.

He changed the law by making detectives go further into investigations, got the Volstead Act passed.
The Mafia Imagine a world filled with big men with strong accents, walking around in suits with big cigars in their mouths. These men were loyal to their families but were dangerous if ever crossed. Does one thing wrong and you might as well dig your grave. These men thrived on the terrible economic trouble America was going through.
