For processes that require dual sign-offs the following solutions are suggested: For In Process Inspections (IPI) and In-Process Secondary Production Acceptance Certification (PAC): Option 1: Place a quality plan on the operation that requires the IPI or PAC. The benefits are reduced work orders and reduced steps while capturing an approver’s name. The downside as mentioned in the problem description is “there are no restrictions, so the same person can sign off both blocks in the plan.” Option 2: At the route level, plan a separate operation for the secondary approval sequenced after the operation performing the work to be certified.

Dissemination Plan Internal. To best disseminate Braden screening internally, it is important to include all acute care staff nurses, charge nurses, nurse administrators, case managers, unlicensed assistive personnel and involved hospital administrators. It is also important to include the acute care physicians, so that they are aware of the problem and intervention on a collaborative basis. A series of lunch and learn sessions, where staff members from each acute care shift can be exposed to the problem (including the prevalence of HAPUs in the acute care setting), the Braden Scale Screening solution, as well as an overview of benefits, costs and savings. This would be an opportunity to gain rapport with staff, and gain traction with early-adopters who will be key to ensuring a culture of taking the intervention seriously, as well as following the protocols and reporting procedures.

I am of the opinion that one of the key elements of KIN 1000 course is to develop the socio-cultural understanding of the body and health and also it is about how beliefs, social and cultural forces shape our body. In addition, KIN 1000 course is also about how gender, race, age disability are being socially constructed and linked to power relations. Public Health England (2017) states that “Consent to treatment is the principle that a person must give permission before they receive any type of medical treatment, test or examination. This must be done on the basis of an explanation by a clinician”. Selinger (2009) also mentions that patient consent in required regardless of the procedure whether physical or something else as the consent principle is an important part of medical ethics and the international human rights. For example Mr Eric was asked several times and given time to think about the procedure which was going to take place and who was going to do it and the procedure was clearly explained to him to make an informed decision. British Journal of Medical Practitioners (Bjmp) (2017) recommends that consent must be voluntary, valid and informed, and the person consenting must have the capacity to make the decision.
