Henry McCarty also know as Billy The Kid was a outlaw who never robbed a bank or train. He was orphaned as a kid when he was 14. When he was born his father was not there so his mother raised him by herself. Until Henry was 14 and she died of tuburculoses leaving him an orphan. His first arrest came from stealing clothes from a chinese laundry with someone named sombrero jack. The crime didn't carry a big punishment but he still escaped through a chimney. Then he left too begin his career as a roving ranch hand, Gang member, and gambler. Billy the kid killed his first man in August 1877. He later got his reputation for a gunslinger when he participated in a frontier war in 1878 in Lincoln County, New Mexico. The war started because a group of irish tycoons who had the monopoly on the cattle trade tried to intimidate someone named tunstall so he would get out of the picture. He was wanted for the murder of sheriff William Brady and was found guilty for it. He stayed at the Lincoln County Courthouse till it was time for him to be hung for the murder. But he made his escape by going too the outhouse and slipping out of his cuffs. Then he snuck up on a guard and shot him to death with his own pistol. Then he got a double barreled shotgun and gunned down a second guard then he escaped.After he escaped death he went and hid out for a while but he didn't keep a low profile for long when sheriff pat garret rode up on a ranch he was staying at. Then billy rode up and went inside to his room where the sheriff was waiting for him where he shot him dead. He fired two shots one hit him in the heart killing him
