Billy was part of the New Mexico’s Lincoln County war. An event which lost countless lives. The legend of Billy the kid was created by the one who killed him, sheriff Patrick Garrett. Henry McCarty, know as the famous outlaw “Billy the kid” was an American old west gunfighter. Billy was born on November 23, 1859, Manhattan, New york city. His mother's name was Catherine McCarthy. Sadly, Henry’s mother died of tuberculosis while he was at the age of 15 and was orphaned. Billy the kid has two siblings, Joseph Antrim being the brother and Bridget Mccarthy being his sister. The cause for all this was the refusal of John Tunstall who refused to surrender the horses which were a payment for an outstanding payment. Tunstall was later shot by protesters protesting the presence of the posse on his land. Billy was affected by the murder; Billy was treated like a son by Tunstall. He swore to take revenge.
