Beowulf is an epic hero. He has great acts of heroic things. He never flees from a challenge.
Beowulf comes for a far land to help hrothgar. There 's a terrible darkness over his land. His people are getting terrorized by grendel. So beowulf comes to show his act of bravery to save hrothgar’s land. Grendel is the worst of two natures, half human, half beast, a lonely misfit, vicious and vengeful, cruel and cannibalistic. But he didn’t phase beowulf’s acts of bravery. So Beowulf goes to fight grendel and cuts his arm off. So then grendel 's mother comes back to avenge his death. She terrorise the town but not for long. Beowulf strong courage wouldn’t let her continue with her killing spree. So he goes in with his sword but it was cursed.
He says that their lives are guided by the heroic code. Then Beowulf proclaims that he will go fight Grendel's mother and Grendel in an underwater battle and then he sets off. On his way, he is captured by Grendel’s mom and taken. But, when he tries to fight back with his sword the sword does nothing to her causing him to start fighting with his bare hands. Then he discovers a weapon that could help him defeat his enemy and it is a great sword.
Beowulf is a very strong man. In order to fight and defeat Grendel he must show how strong he is. Beowulf states, “The truth is this: when the going was heavy in those high waves, I was the strongest swimmer of all." (532-534) This quote shows how Beowulf believes that he should always show his strength even when he does not have a heroic act to be accomplished; therefore, even if there is not a demon or dragon to fight, he wants to show his strength in different ways.
The way we treat ourselves is extraordinary compared to the utilization of figures past. We, humans, are a populous society of affable tributes that are of importance. That we look up to the people that give us safety, as well that show respect and pride. These people are the idols that portray heroism; the general populous agrees that a hero is selfless. One such example is in an epic poem Beowulf.
He was only trying to help out King Hrothgar and wanted to fight. Although defeating Grendel was not enough Grendel 's mother had to be defeated to for trying to kill people in the town. Beowulf took the challenge. When Beowulf goes to her he feels as if though he is going to die. She takes him to her lair Beowulf fears for his life until they get inside the lair.
Grendel did it for his own self defense. Beowulf was disguised as someone who only wanted good for the people ,but reality he was just a manipulative, vicious, and selfish monster. Beowulf had a really high confidence for everything he had accomplished. There was absolutely no remorse for how he killed his game. A game was how he saw every kill.
He carefully strategized his plan to defeat Grendel. He waited for Grendel to come to Heorot, then surprise attacked him. Grendel put up a fight, but Beowulf was stronger and more intelligent. Beowulf ripped the arm off of the beast, sending him away to die. Not only did Beowulf have to defeat Grendel, but Grendel’s mother came back for revenge, so Beowulf set out to the darkness where Grendel and his mother lived.
Reminiscing about the fight fought against Grendel’s mother, Beowulf says he fought her using an enchanted sword that disintegrated after one fatal strike. This shows how Beowulf has developed his way of dealing with evil, as this time he actually uses a weapon to kill his
This scene is relevant due to its differing plot from the other two slayings. During the killing of Grendel, Beowulf tears off his arm and ultimately destroys the wretched monster alone and without frivolous weapons. When the duel between Grendel’s mother arises, Beowulf
He decides to answer the trouble and begins his journey to the monster. Grendle, who is the definition of evil is harassing the king known as Hrothgar and his beloved people. While he's fighting grendel's mother which wanted revenge for her only son that she had. For instance, Beowulf’s narrator says “he was weary, that best and strongest of soldiers.” (line 729) The narrator is mentioning on of grendel's characteristic. Furthermore, Beowulf saw that not even his sword would slice grendel’s mother skin off so he had to put his full strength in order to kill grendel's mother.

In an earlier battle, Beowulf was able to once again exhibit his enormous strength by single handedly tearing off the arm of an enemy giant, Grendel. Lastly, before all of the battles, Beowulf displays his extreme intelligence. After being unjustly embarrassed by Unferth, Beowulf decided to reply in a civil manner. In his reply, he accurately refuted all of Unferth’s claims and turns the embarrassment on him. By responding cordially, he was able to dissolve any potential tension between the Geats and Danes.
