Banning Dodgeball Research Paper

Some people at Webb City High School would be very angry to find out that they will no longer be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities due to their grades. The students who really want to play sports though would get into gear and get their grades up to prove that they deserve to play. What is a School without education? Pointless. Other people in the community believe that the “C rule” is not fair for the people who do not participate in any extracurricular activities because they will not be being punished.

The persuasive techniques Ethos, Pathos, and Logos are used to assist the author in their claim and sound convincing. In the articles “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education,” by The National Association for Sport and Physical Education, and “The Weak Shall Inherit the Gym,” by Rick Reilly, both authors use persuasive techniques to make their claims on dodgeball in physical education. The article, “Position on Dodgeball in Physical Education,” created by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, short for NASPE, focuses on using logos throughout the article. To illustrate, when discussing keeping children and adolescents active it’s stated that, “61.5% of children aged 9-13 years do not participate in any organized physical activity during their non-school hours and 22.6% do not engage in any free-time physical activity”(986).

My opinion on dodge ball is they should get rid of it. Dodge ball is an elimination game and most of the people that are eliminated are weak and need more physical activity. So schools need to help and work with games that involve more physical activity and games that do not eliminate kids. Half of the time schools like to have everyone participate in everything and when you're eliminating people they are not participating. Another reason they banned dodge ball is because it's violent and inappropriate.

In today 's world schools spend too much money on after school sports and might get rid of them. Although many students think getting rid of after school sport is not necessary; schools save much more money now and a more percentage of students pass their classes because the schools use the money for educational purposes. Youths should not be banned from participating in sports such as dodgeball, cheerleading, and football. To begin with, dodgeball teaches physical and mental education. This proves that youths shouldn’t be banned from dodgeball since it teaches them at a young age and it teaches mental and physical lessons. But, according to , kids are now being thought new and enhanced techniques of playing the sport. The chances of injuries and concussions are rapidly decreasing. Therefore, kids should be allowed to play the sport. Moreover, it has been proven through many studies that active kids do better in school.

Book Banning I think that the root problem with the book banning/burning was the level of maturity in the certain individuals affected. Both of these books were not made for children. I think the people in charge that banned Mr Vonnegurt’s book could have done better with their solution and the people at the Biloxi school came up with an adequate solution to the problem. An example is the book by Kurt Vonnegut, but they were still taught in the classroom.

Dodgeball is a sport that has some complex things, but very basic things that everyone will understand . that ill explain all about it in very detail and interesting things.
