Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide is an act in which a terminally ill patient should have all rights to participate in such actions. Many individuals mistaken the difference between the two, euthanasia is the act of which the doctor or third party is performing the final act of death. In the case of physician assisted suicide, the last and final act is performed by the terminally ill themselves. No matter which option a patient decides to choose, it is their choice on how they decide to handle their bodies. We often forget as a society that abortions and living wills are examples of how we choose to govern and treat our own bodies. The ending of a potential life, or as one my see it as an actual life does not share the same attention

I believe they should have to abide by the same laws because they are still humans that can make decisions. If there is someone that is believed to not be able to take care of themselves should be under full time supervision. This is so that they don 't lose control of themselves and some can help them through life. Do to the proper care not being given to Lennie he had to be killed for his actions.
When looking at previously implemented end-of-life care, is physician assisted suicide any different? Patients are able to sign do not resuscitate paperwork which mean that there will be no resuscitation if their heart happens to go into an abnormal heart rhythm or stop all together. Do not resuscitate, do not intubate, and the ability to discontinue care at any time per patient request are all implemented in order to uphold an individual’s autonomy (Bailey, et. al., 2012). If DNRs, DNIs and respite of all care can be ruled ethical if it is the patient’s wishes, why can’t physician assisted suicide?
Physician assisted suicide is when a physician provides the means required to commit suicide, including prescribing lethal amounts of harmful drugs to a patient. In the United States alone, there is great controversy about physician assisted suicide. The issue is whether physician assisted suicide is murder or an act of sympathy for the patient. The main point is that terminally ill patients should have a right to physician assisted suicide if it meets their needs and is done properly. Physician assisted suicide is an appropriate action for the terminally ill that want to end their life in peace before it ends at the hands of the terminal disease.
Many people think that there are too many problems with physician assisted suicide. Physician assisted suicide is a procedure that allows physicians to prescribe their patients a lethal medication that they can inject themselves with in order to die on their own terms. There are specific requirements that the patients must meet in order to receive this medication. Physician assisted suicide is only for patients that have life threatening illnesses and do not have much time left to live. It is legal in numerous places around the world including certain places in the United States.
Euthanasia is the painless killing, usually by injection, of someone usually done by doctors and is illegal in the United States as well as many other countries around the world. This differs from physician-assisted suicide because in physician-assisted suicide a doctor or physician provides means or knowledge required to commit suicide, but the person has to be the one to kill themselves. Both of these situations are viewed as morally wrong in the eyes of the church and many citizens in the U.S. Euthanasia, and physician-assisted suicide, both limit the life of a person based on his or her physical and or emotional health. This process takes away part of a person’s life, shortening God’s plan for that person, and does not allow for miracles to get better. There is no definite way to predict the future but people tend to think that since a person is in pain now, and the person wants to die, nothing can happen that can turn his or her situation
Utilitarianism is a one of the ethical theory that was discussed in the first half of the class that applies to the case of Euthanasia. Utilitarianism is the moral worth of an action based on consequences (the greatest good principle). Therefore, utilitarianism can be applied to Euthanasia because it produce happiness for patients and their family by avoiding pain. However, I believe that Euthanasia should not be morally allowed. Euthanasia is an action done intentionally to end life to end the pain and sufferings from a terminal illness.
The difference between the two is that euthanasia is when the doctor themselves will conduct the action of killing the patient with a lethal dose of medication with or without the patient’s consent whereas physician-assisted suicide is when the doctor will open up ideas and make suggestions on how the patient wants to go about ending their own life (“Euthanasia and Physician Assisted” para 1, 2). They are both pretty similar in a sense that they will both result in death the only difference is the process or the way each practice is done. Physician-assisted suicide can also be identified as a type of euthanasia which is voluntary active euthanasia to be

Not only do patients endure physical pain, but they also encounter mental health issues such as depression. Those who undergo the pain of an illness should have the right to die.
