A young man stood straight and tall on a podium as he received his high school graduation certificate. Simultaneously, the possibilities for his immediate future flashed before his eyes. He could pursue higher education, or perhaps enter the workforce immediately! The same teenager’s mind groaned internally as he discovered that he was being forced to complete an entire year of mandatory national service prior to pursuing his future goals. However, this young man was intelligent and positive; he began scrutinizing the situation with a unique perspective and turned what he thought was a restraint into an opportunity.
Congress is considering a plan to require all future United States high school graduates to spend one year in service before embarking on any future endeavors. This plan is beneficial all around, provided that people regard it with a positive mindset. The plan benefits the entire country, as it meets national needs and gives the country a common identity. People also learn important traits and skills while serving their country. There are some who oppose the mandatory service, but nevertheless, they only do so because they are either not open-minded or are

This plan would benefit the entire country in various ways. Individuals would gain important traits and learn important skills. Some oppose this concept, but eventually, they will see the benefits as they learn more and become more open to new ideas. A year of mandatory national service would be beneficial to anyone as long as they embrace it in a positive way and see it as an opportunity. Ironically, this concept of national service will be most beneficial to those who dislike it, as their negative attitudes will begin to become more positive with the aid of national service. Above all, people must realize that a year of patience can lead to a multitude of years of
The veterans are coming! The veterans are coming! In the article "The veterans are coming! The veterans are coming!”
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
Citizens gain an understanding and appreciation for the sacrifices people in the military make. However, despite this… without the recognition of human rights, peace still can’t be achieved, whether its individual, cultural, or gender based rights. Even though forced labour is considered a violation of human rights, the practice of compulsory military service isn’t. The United Nations Commission on Human Rights only moved towards recognizing the right of individuals to object to military service in 1987.
Throughout history, countries are inevitably pulled into conflicts that result in war. These conflicts usually occur because of interests in: economic gain, territorial gain, religion, and nationalism. America, like every country, needs a military to defend itself, especially when tensions arise in other parts of the world and when militia numbers start to decrease. This then allows the government to draft its population to serve in the military. People argue that young men and women’s bright lives are often cut short, and not allowed their Constitutional right to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness”, but there are many benefits for the nation and the individual by serving one’s country.
Is college worth it? Recently people have debated endlessly over this juggernaut of a question. Whether it's worth the debt and the added 4 years of stress and insanity when discovering the perfect future. There are many antagonistic claims that prove each other wrong but in the long haul college offers loads of added benefits that come into play when looking for a steady high paying job. Therefor proving that college is worth it because graduates tend to make higher salaries and prove to be more employable than those lacking a college degree.
Many teenagers at high schools are being recruited to the military looking for a good education that is free. Even though High schoolers after graduating go to the military without knowing what they will face once there, military recruiters need to be more specific about the military because high schoolers try to go looking for all those opportunities they were told and too many young people are joining hoping to look for a good life their but ends up being the opposite. The decision to join the military is a very serious one that should not be made lightly. Enlisting in the Armed Forces is an irreversible commitment to at least two years of wartime service.
Is College Worth The Time And money Many people go to college for many reasons the main one for most is to get a degree in something they think will give them better job opportunities which in return would allow them to have a better paying job then what they may have now. A lot of time ,effort and money go into college and so it’s understandable to think that once you’re done you’ll have a great job waiting for you . In a lot of cases it really doesn’t turn out that way, but either way college is well worth all the time and money someone puts into it.
As a teenager moving to a new country with a different culture, different language, and being thousands of miles away from everyone I grew up with was not an easy change, however, that was precisely what I did in January of 2013 when I came to the United States with my father. My whole world changed since, and shaped my way of thinking. From learning English, adjusting to a new culture, experiencing my first snow and finding my way in my new country, my life has been an exciting adventure. My parents brought me to America almost 5 years ago to have a better life, and to get a better education.
Is College the Best Option College is a place that people go to study in and get their degrees. College helps students get educational and be more knowledgeable. Also, it teaches them who to take responsibilities and do their works. College helps students and gives them a degree which will help them get a better job. In my perspective college is the best place for people to go and get their degrees.
The praises that you receive shouldn’t be based on the mere fact that you join but maybe for those who actually wants to serve and protect. In contrast, he says “Make that choice without looking back to see the cheering faces of those who tell you your duty is to do what they are not doing for purposes you may not know nor share” (Gillman 680). None the less, the author let the reader know that these young men and women risk their own lives for purposes which may not be of any value to themselves or the country. As a result, those purposes doesn’t deserve the praises that are
Is College Really Worth it? Many college graduates are currently unemployed, which has left many parents wondering, is college really worth it? Some parents believe that college prepares students for more than a job or career, and others don’t think it’s worth the cost. Recent studies have shown that new college students are losing ground on wages by the time they graduate, higher education is becoming a risky investment, and most students are better off developing their own “lower-risk” business.
College is one of the most important and life changing times in the life of an American. Leaving high school behind and venturing out to the adult world is an amazing experience that every individual should experience. However, young adults from every corner of the country leave college with crippling debt or do not go to their preferred college of choice. College education should be cheaper as it will help families and students financially and give them the satisfaction with having the opportunity to go to their first choice for college.
Is College Worth the Cost? Life’s success is achieved in different ways. (Director, n.d.) A lot of television programs and magazines instills the idea in us that being successful means; having a fulfilling career, having a lot of money and being powerful. Most religious and spiritual organizations, in contrast, claim that success means being at peace with God and finding spiritual happiness.
The primary aim of mandatory volunteering is to encourage teenagers to be decent and caring citizens. By this way, high school students are to complete 30 to 40 hours unpaid service in their communities in order to graduate. Some people claim that having mandatory volunteering in the school program is extracurricular and affects students’ activity in the class. However, I strongly believe that it would be beneficial for their future states in a number of ways. First reason that I believe mandatory volunteering is beneficial is that it involves a great number of people from young age to serve in community.
Is Higher Education Worth It? Nowadays a lot of people argue whether a higher education is still worth it or not. They think that not everyone needs an extra four-year of learning to get an extra title. Many people still believe that higher education is useless. Moreover, to obtain a higher level of education, it takes lots of money.
