The Dangers of Roller Coasters Are roller coasters dangerous? Yes!! Even though roller coasters can be fun they can be dangerous if the right precautions are not taken. For instance, James Thomas Hackemer an Iraq war veteran who lost both of his legs in combat went to Darien Lake Theme Park and was told that he could ride all the rides. The roller coaster that he went on held the rider in primarily with a lap bar. The only problem was that James had no lap. As the roller coaster reached a drop of 208 feet he fell out of the roller coaster to his death on the ground below (Glove). Over the year’s roller coasters have become safer. On Sunday July 19 1981 a 16-year-old girl fell from a roller coaster to her death (“U.S Roller Coaster Fatalities

The railroad had contributed many advantages, therefore dramatically affecting economic, cultural and social lives of the people in the United States. Economically, those advantages included more directed routes, greater speed, safety, and comfort than other modes of land travel, more dependable schedules, a larger volume of traffic, and year-round service. The railroad covered fifty miles in about an hour, 700 miles in a day. It went where canals and rivers did not go—directly to the loading platforms of factories or across the arid West.

We live in a world that is continually becoming more and more sensitive to the opinions and controversies going on around us, especially in the setting of a classroom. Which has lead to controversy and rigorous discussion on whether or not students should be given a warning on when said topics could be spoken upon through what is called a “trigger warning”. As well, when a sensitive topic is to be spoken on in class, there is a growing concept of having a “safe space” to retreat to if needed. Some of the main topics that may be threatening towards someone’s mind set sparsely include: sexual assault, suicide, murder, genocide, war, and any other horrors that may have the ability to bring a student back into a tragic event or occurrence they have gone through. Although “trigger

Disneyland, also known as the happiest place on Earth, has recently been the considered one of the most dangerous places on Earth for those that have not received a measles vaccination. A measles outbreak had swept across the park only months ago, causing many unvaccinated individuals and those too young to be vaccinated to contract the awful sickness. Also, the individuals who became sick returned home and began to spread the germ in their towns and cities. The measles vaccine is proven to be extremely effective, so if parents had made the decision of vaccinating their children, the outbreak could have easily been prevented. Measles is one of many diseases that are preventable with immunizations, yet some individuals refuse to cooperate.
Just when we got up close to the front my heart started beating a mile a minute. I was scared, I wanted to go back and not do this. Though I knew waiting 2 ½ hours couldn’t be for nothing so I rode the coaster. It was extremely fun and fast. I loved
We started that jam-packed day with the Batman rollercoaster. The coaster was amazing with its numerous loops, twists, drops, and confrontational speeds. Coasters have never bothered me with heights. After enduring quite a few of rides, it was almost the end of our day. We made our way into the last section of the park and there it was: the most horrific ride of them all.

King related roller coasters to horror movies because people get a scare out of it. On roller coasters, it can seem scary before anyone gets on, but afterwards it’s thrilling. Instead, a horror movie gives people nightmares for days or weeks. Roller coasters also don’t show signs of evil or violence. They also don’t create a long lasting fear in a person’s head or heart.
A well-timed New York Times story says amusement park safety mishaps “raise the question of whether roller coasters and other thrill rides, which are faster, taller and more extreme than ever, have also become more dangerous.” The piece ran Sunday and was filed before Saturday’s incident at Cedar Point, in which two guests were injured in an accident on the Skyhawk ride. It begins by noting recent accidents at Six Flags parks in California and Texas, as well as an accident last summer on Cedar Point’s Shoot the Rapids water ride, where a boat rolled backward and flipped over, injuring at least six people.
