Argumentative Essay: Should Children Be Taught Gun Safety?

Certain do not have safety, and they could definitely fire at any given moment. Guns kill people and that does not need to take place. Guns are a dangerous object and if someone does not know how to operate a gun. Guns aren't something for everybody, and aren't allowed at school what so ever.

In the event of a shooting, a teacher may accidentally shoot a teacher, a student, or an officer that is trying to help. During class, a teacher may carelessly leave a gun unattended where a student could get a hold of it. Armed teachers are a safety risk as proved by several recent events. A teacher with a gun attempted suicide in a high school in Dalton, and another injured a student after a gun misfired during a gun safety class. Even a principal, who was a school shooting hero for using his own gun to stop a shooter, is in agreement that it is a safety risk.

The use of and the owning of guns is a very hot and debated topic in society today. For many, this is a life and death debate due to the recent and numerous school shootings. These school shootings have caused an outcry for more gun control, specifically in relation to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Despite these calls, increased gun control is not the answer. Most gun owners’ use their guns responsibly and for good purposes.

The following argument is in favor of gun control. The restrictions on guns in place today are not nearly sufficient considering the level of gun violence seen on a daily basis.
