Keep Guns off Campus
Parents expect their child to be in a safe environment at school. They should have trust that the school will protect their child from any harm on campus. However, there are many violent crimes that have occurred on campuses. Should guns be allowed on campus? Students having their own personal guns could be used for personal protection. Sometimes there are not enough policemen on the campus to help protect students from insane individuals. Perhaps a student with a concealed weapon can protect students with their own personal gun. However, guns on campus could result into tragedies. A student having guns on campus could enact on killing innocent students. Guns shouldn’t be permitted for students on college campuses.
In fact, students may have the intentions to harm. Some students would be irresponsible with the use of a gun. For instance, at the University of Georgia an argument escalated then the student pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and started firing shots (Reindl, Cocco, 7). In addition, a student with a mood disorder could enact aggressively with the use of a gun. The individual could hold a full classroom of students and teachers hostage for hours on campus. Guns are an issue in society; therefore, it would be dangerous for guns to be on campus. On college campuses it’s populated with many students .Guns being prohibit on campus could cause conflicts on the property of the school. For instance, a gun could accidently fire a shot in the classroom. Individuals would feel frighten in the class. Students are too young to handle a concealed weapon; they don’t have the experience to operate a gun. As a result, guns should be banned from schools to protect young citizens from being harm. According to Kenzie Kesselring, allowing guns on college campuses is a horrible idea. Not only is dangerous to college students’ well-being, but it also threatens the institution of collegiate learning altogether (Stroud, K.). Moreover, open gun carry can make students fearful for their safety; they will no longer be comfortable debating or being themselves. Some students might even be distracted knowing that at any moment someone in their classroom could be legally carrying a gun. Would you feel safe sitting next to somebody who holds a gun?
The only way to restrict firearms on elementary and secondary campuses is to restrict the carrying of firearms. There are two predominant ways to restrict firearms on college campuses. At the University of Northern Arizona in October of 2015 Steven Jones came to school and shot four students and killed one. He was charged with first degree murder. Now imagine you were a student at that school wouldn't you want a student or teacher to be able to stop the shooter before it got this far? College Students in the United States should be aloud to conceal carry on campus. Concealed weapons on campus would help protect colleges in the U.S. by having armed students and staff on campus.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.

Students need to properly educate the public on the benefits of carrying guns on the campus. By states not allowing guns on campus it is making a target for the shootings. Research says there are more rapes, assaults, and robberies than killings.
Should teachers be allowed to possess guns during school hours? Teachers should be able to possess guns during school hours because the teacher could protect the students, be able to prevent school shootings, and neutralize other threats. ¨Adam could not handle his constant bullying anymore, he felt as if he would do anything to end his struggle. Mass shootings have been a major issue in this country. One common place these shootings take place is on school grounds. These events keep happening with really no solution to put an end to these tragedies. Recently, a bill had been proposed in Wisconsin that would lift the ban on guns in campus buildings in UW schools. This means more guns on campus.

Several studies mention that licensed concealed carry weapons aren’t involved in crimes that happen on campus. Certain individuals that do commit crimes on and off campus, generally don’t go through background checks to obtain legal concealed weapons. Gun permit requirements vary by state but most require that applicants are the legal minimum age, complete a safety course and have sound criminal and mental histories (Collins). Allowing students to carry concealed weapons on campus could be considered dangerous; however, having these students’ complete safety courses and go through testing that proves they are mentally capable could prevent it from being dangerous. Certain campuses also don’t allow students to carry conceal in classrooms or in dorms.
If Texas allows students to open carry their own weapons in school, hundreds more similar incidents may occur. The only time a state should be allow laxed gun laws is when the people have total and complete faith among each other, which is something that we currently lack in the country as of now. Firstly, the arming of students, faculty and staff should be prohibited because its unsafe. The debate on whether staff, faculty and students should carry firearms on campuses has been going for years now. Some colleges have debated that a law should be passed were staff and faculty should carry firearms on campus, but other colleges have dismissed this case because it is dangerous and unsafe. According to Jesus Villahermosa’s essay “Guns don’t belong in the Hands of Administrators, Professors, or Students” he states, “I agree that allowing guns on campuses will create problems, not solve them.” This statement is true because not everyone is capable to handle a gun or even use one.
It states that our nation was in one of the worst spasms of violence with guns alone at colleges. This article also states that over the past few years, almost fifteen states have made it a whole lot easier for teachers, students and even administrators to carry concealed weapons on campus. Starting in August of 2016, Texas Lawmakers are going to make carrying a concealed weapon on campus legal. To begin with, we are living in one of the most violent time in the last decade. There has been more mass shooting in schools and colleges than ever before. Government can not seem to find a solution for this mass shooting. This brings us to the main topic of whether or not we should allow guns in college campus.
