Banning Horse Slaughter
Horsemeat has been discovered in the U.S food supply, and is dumped on the dinner plates of unsuspecting consumers. Not only do Americans overwhelmingly oppose slaughtering horses, but horses are not raised for food and over the course of their lives they receive a wide variety of drugs and other substances that make their meat tainted. Being sold for slaughter is one of the many challenges horse’s face to merely live their lives free of abuse and suffering. Hope can be found in the homes and hearts of millions of people ready and willing to protect them. Whether you ride horses, own them, or just love them, I urge you to play a part in their protection through adoption, donations, volunteering or advocacy. A proposed

Most American horses going to slaughter arrive at the slaughterhouse via livestock auctions where they are purchased by kill buyers working for the slaughter plants. After a horse is bought by a kill buyer, they are shipped to a slaughterhouse in Mexico or Canada. Currently, there are no horse slaughterhouses in the U.S., but the cruel and predatory industry continues to court states. Workers cram as many horses as possible into trucks. According to Valerie Pringle, Equine Protection Specialist for The Humane Society of the United States (n.d) “They mix stallions in with pregnant mares, foals, and older horses, often leading to fights and injuries.” At the slaughterhouse, a horse is killed in a way that is easiest and quickest for the slaughterhouse worker, but most agonizing for the horse. Investigations from Mexican and Canadian slaughter plants report that horses are stabbed multiple times in the neck with a puntilla knife to sever their spinal cords, leaving them paralyzed and unable to breathe. The horse is then hoisted, bled out, cut apart, often while still conscious and able to feel everything. Slaughter simply cannot be made
Most of America's horses are shipped overseas to countries such as Canada and Mexico for slaughter, However, the slaughter process starts way before the horses arrive to the slaughterhouse. These slaughterhouses will slaughter any horse, from foals to old horses to ponies and donkeys and even pregnant mares, if they are shipped to slaughter they are slaughtered. Some horse owners will outright sell their horses to killer buyers, but most people will take their horse to a local auction where killer buyers bid against other buyers and try to get horses for the lowest price. A killer buyer is a person who travels from auction to auction buying horses at the lowest price specifically for slaughter, then when the unsafe oversized overcrowded trailers
Equestrian sports have been entertaining humans for centuries. Many of these sports have turned fun entertainment into a business. The focus has changed from having fun to making as much money as possible. In every equestrian sport, questionable things are done to train and get horses to their “best” potential. Equestrian sports should have stricter regulations and enforcement in order to ensure and maintain the safety of the horse.
In fact, the animals are often stored in small cages or spaces with barley any room to move, many will catch a disease from their poor quality of living. Social interaction is crucial because the animals become tired of the same environment, this leads to aggression. To control the aggression, animals are often pumped with drugs. Often, if an animal is sick there will be no veterinary help because of the high cost that is required, as a result, cattle have died from dehydration or other reasons regarding the lack of care. Because the animals are seen as a profit they are bred in a way that is convenient for the slaughterhouse.
Rodeos are big events all over the country. Families come from all over to enjoy watching cowboys compete at the rodeos. While some people come to rodeos to document the abuse and harm that the cowboys are causing the animals. It is a big controversy whether rodeos are animal abuse or not. Animal rights activists are trying to stop rodeos from “abusing” animals, but they don’t know the extensive care that the animals are given.
So, instead of wasting the money the horse has earned the cheapest way is to send them off to wherever they want. Which, is not a nice home, it is a death home. Living as an animal in the racing industry is difficult exhausting. From endless suffering and injuries, being injected and digesting illegal pills, and if you fail you are thrown out of the industry and killed for multiple usages. The life of a racehorse is not sunshine and rainbows.
Researchers estimated over 26 million animals were used for scientific tests and commercial testing subject every year in the United States. Over the years animals were used to be tested on medical treatments, products for human uses, health care, and etc. The practice of researching on living animals has started since 500 BC. Opponents of this act say that it is cruel to experiment on animals, there are other methods available to replace the cruel act of experimenting on living animals, and that the human bodies and animal’s bodies are totally two different features and the research often yields irrelevant results. The federal Animal Welfare or AWA passed the animal testing act in 1966 and amended in 1970, 1976, and 1985.
Zoos Should Be Banned Imagine you are five years old, someone breaks into your home, kills your aunt and possibly your older brother in the process of kidnapping you. You are separated from your loved ones, leaving your mother in severe pain and grief. You are taken somewhere unknown, imprisoned in a cell where people come watch you for their own entertainment.
The meat packing industry disregards animal’s emotions and their rights all together by the malicious treatment of animals. The way animals are being treated is highly unfair. Being slaughtered for their body parts and suffering just to be used for protein or an asset to humans is unbearable. An animal’s life is at equal values to a human and deserve the same rights as
The Controversy on Agricultures Mankind has gone through numerous changes that have defined life today. Humans have developed technology and discovered resources that are essential to ones everyday life. Some of the changes weren’t for pleasure but vital to survive on Earth. These changes may not benefit humans but allow us to survive: agriculture. Jared Diamond explains in the article “The worst mistake in the history of the Human Race” stating that “…the adoption of agriculture, supposedly our most decisive step toward a better life, was in many ways a catastrophe from which we have never recovered.”
Animal Testing Should Be Banned Animal testing also known animal experimentation is a process whereby non-human animals are used to conduct experiments. There has been an increase of animal testing in the field of biomedical research. Due to this, animal testing has become an extreme controversial topic that has created a division among different groups, of those who are supporting the process and those who are opposing. Therefore, there are ongoing debates on whether animal testing should go on or it should be banned. Some groups argue it is ethical, while others insist that the process is unethical, and there is a last group advocating for alternatives in the testing other than the use of animals.
Animal Rights Some people assume that just because animals cannot speak that they cannot feel pain. It is not okay to torture living beings that have their own thoughts and breathe the exact same air us humans breathe. It is unjust and selfish to stand by and take no action while everyday hundreds if not thousands of innocent animals die without reason. No matter how much fur or how many limbs the creature has; it should be treated as equal as a person. A heart beat is a heartbeat regardless of the body it’s in.
Should Animal Testing be Allowed? Animal testing has been a controversial issue for a long time now. Whether or not animal testing is humane or not, both sides of the argument are hard to choose from . On one hand you have the possibility of curing diseases, saving lives, and helping the human race. On the other hand you have the lives of many innocent animals who are being injected, probed, caged and mistreated for just facts.

Homework is an on-going topic of debate that has been being questioned for decades. In my opinion, I don’t think that homework is essential to students due to the effect it has on your mental and eventually your physical health and it is starting to affect their school life. Is the amount of work we get actually helpful to students? Is it too much for students? How is homework affecting my child?
When putting on your lipstick, do you know what brand your lipstick is? If you are not aware, you might indirectly support animal testing without realizing it. Animal testing is a scientific experiment performed on animals to study the effects of drugs, cosmetic products and other chemical products on humans. In other words, it is used to evaluate the effectiveness of new drugs. About 1.4 million animals die each year because of animal testing.
