In chapter 1 of the APA Manual, the focus was to point out types of articles, ethical and legal standards in publishing, accuracy of scientific knowledge, protecting the rights and welfare of research participants, and protecting intellectual property rights (American Psychological Association, 2017). These sections are intended to help publishers ensure that their research is posted properly. The APA states, “research is complete only when the results are shared with a scientific community” (American Psychological Association, 2017). This means that to share with a community, you must follow the APA guidelines for doing so.
When reviewing chapter 1 of the APA Manual, I found it to be very helpful with continuing research. I have done a lot of research in my undergrad, but I never knew what fully went into the publication part of research. It is important to know the different types of articles such as empirical studies, literature reviews, theoretical articles, methodological articles, and case studies (American Psychological Association, 2017). It is important to know and understand the differences between each type of article, because they focus on different aspects. I also found it interesting all the fine details you must consider when publishing research, such as conflict of interest.

Remember what sources one is using. Occasionally it is favorable to have both current and noncurrent sources, however that does depend on the topic (Lunsford). Lunsford details the types of sources such as: primary, secondary, scholarly and popular to choose from.

The difference between them is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are in a short period of time. While, climate is how the atmosphere ‘behaves’ in a relatively longer period of time.
The first activity is interactive to create a basic awareness of the nonverbal concept of touch. The students will be paired up in two and sit facing each other, although their eyes will be closed. The teacher will instruct the students to hold their hands up in front of them, and to touch flatly their partner’s hand. Keeping in mind their eyes are to remain closed and are supposed to use their hands to communicate throughout this entire activity, the teacher should instruct the students to say “hello” to their partner’s hands. Then instruct the students to have an argument, and afterwards have the pairs make up and say sorry.
As discussed in the article by Clive Thompson, many people use different ways of speaking. Based on text conversations, social media posts, and comments language has made a drastic change. TBH grammar has made like a huge change on society. Lookin at billboards and social media, people post is a totally diff manner than speaking. History provides us with the framework of knowledge that we need to build our entire lives. It takes us closer to happenings and events in the past we can know about and learn how things have changed ever since, and who were the figures and personalities that helped change the scenario.
After reading chapter seven-teen (17) about research and arguments for academic writing. I have to agree, that doing good and useful research for a paper that is going to be read not only by your professor in college, but also possibly by an audience that could include, professionals from your chosen field, is crucial. Therefore, the better the research that you collect, will result in the ability for you to write a better and more informed article or paper on your topic. What, I found interesting in this chapter was the example on “Nature Deficit Diorder” at the end of the chapter.

One thing that is important with the APA style of writing is the use of in-text citation. A citation is used in the body of the paper to alert readers to the inclusion of borrowed material (Bethel University, 2015).
In conclusion, the book by Nancy Jean Vyhmeister, Quality Research Paper, possesses excellence in discussing technical writing such as research. The book allows its readers to learn steps by steps guide to accomplish a quality research paper. It goes from selecting a topic, to narrowing it down to a workable area of research, it teaches how to effectively use library and computer resources, it also focused on how to write clearly, and citing relevant notes. Through the book the author was able to share her insights about organizing your thoughts, to formatting paper, including footnotes and bibliography. Presenting specific research such as surveys and case studies, and finally it teaches the students how to use statistics, table, and graphs
The primary goals are to inform the audience of the research topic, steps, and outcome. The research writings would help paint a clearer picture of the whole outline of the research process itself. The research wants to ensure that they are communicating with their writings and not use others ideas as their own. They need to take into account of the reader perspective. The reader might have no background knowledge on the topic and might need to be enlightened on all the factors of the research.
Synthesizing is a bit new to me. I did not know putting your own ideas and information into your paper from sources was called that. These are just a few strategies which help you apply to reading and writing papers.
Articles written by scientists, doctors or any professional are geared toward an audience in that same field. This can be problematic for the average consumer because of many reasons. The diction in scholarly articles can oftentimes be difficult to follow as well as the experiment or research itself. Though it is done in steps, research is not necessarily going to be written in the steps exactly how it was performed nor will it be labeled in a scholarly article. These articles are also difficult to find if the reader is not part of a university or an organization because many of these articles are not accessible to the average person through the mainstream internet.
