In part six, I thought there was a lot of good information spread out in all of the chapters. The biggest thing that stood out to me were in chapter 25. I enjoyed the first sections that were expressed. I enjoyed the idea about how Jesus recruits heroes to join him in critiquing theocapitalism. I think this means that he reaches out to people who are going to attempt to make the kingdom grow.

Chapter four focuses on body growth, brain development, and influences on physical growth. During the time, a child goes from an infant to a toddler they grow uncontrollably. By the time an infant is six months they have doubled from their birthweight. Instead of growing steady overtime infants experience times where they do not grow at all and times where they grow a lot over a day. The child body begins to proportion and different parts of the body grow at different rates.

With this statement, Mackinder makes a claim and says that no rational political geography can function without being built upon the ideas of physical geography. He says the idea of political geography is currently based upon no principles of physical geography and must not be considered a true discipline. This defines the complex and typically unseen relationship between political and physical geography, “Geography is like a tree which early divides into two great branches, whose twigs may none the less be inextricably interwoven.” (Mackinder 159). Harm de Blij’s Why Geography Matters: More Than Ever explains the necessity of geographic knowledge in today’s society and the need to further expand interactions within the United States and other countries. This novel expands on the economic, cultural, physical, and political geography of our nation. De Blij outlines on the importance of geographic thought by focusing on climate change, terrorism, the rise of states, and development in Africa.. I believe that while geography has proven to make a noticeable difference in the knowledge of our vast world, it will require an extensive amount of effort in order to make geography known.

Farm technology made a lot of progress from 1890-1920. Before this time, all the farming was done by hand. There were many inventions from wire to tractors to help make farming easier. Three inventions that really changed farming were gas tractors, cream separator and horse drawn combine. Gas tractors were created so that you didn’t have to use your horses so much and so you could pull more.

Ancient civilizations began in areas that had arable land and other features such as rivers. Civilizations succeeded in these environments because they could settle down and not live a nomadic lifestyle. Because the land was arable, agriculture prospered and people relied on the geography to grant them the elements needed for survival. In China and Egypt, geography greatly influenced and affected the lives of the people living there because of the prosperous rivers and large natural barriers.

This is because it involves interactions between humans and their environment. This chapter illustrates a connection with geography and society. For example, the size and climate of the islands can increase population and agriculture. In Japan, there is an undergoing continuous increase in the proportion of elderly people. In times when most people were dying in their sixties, those who were over 70 years old would be considered as living unusually long, and would be respected as venerable elderly people. However, in a society in which most people reach the age of 80, those who are still in their sixties are regarded as ordinary people.
