WOOSTER — Wayne County Commissioner Ann Obrecht stepped back in time, in a manner of speaking, as the former school teacher gave a lesson in county government to a group of home-schooled students prior to the commissioners’ business meeting Wednesday.
The students were from the Apostolic church, said Pam Zollinger, as she introduced the group during the meeting. The seventh- through 12th-grade students spent part of the day learning about how county government operates, and they toured the Wayne County Dispatch Center, aka 8500, after they left the commissioners.
Auditor Jarra Underwood also addressed the students, talking about her role and encouraging them to get involved in the voting process when they turned 18 years old.

It is a routine matter, but Obrecht took time to explain the County Home’s bills are paid out of a levy fund.
When Planning Department Director Betsy Sparr rose to talk about a resolution dealing with a change to a parcel of property, she ended up giving a short lesson on the Planning Commission, its makeup and the role it plays in reviewing land use changes.
Just as Underwood encouraged the students to have a voice in the structure of government through voting, Obrecht also informed them there are other ways to get involved in government without being elected. The commissioners make appointments of volunteers to several boards, like the Planning Commission, the Mental Health & Recovery Board of the Board of Developmental Disabilities.
One resolution on the agenda was a change to the county’s safety manual. The form county workers fill out after an accident needed to be changed in order to capture information needed by administrators. Normally, the commissioners would spend about 30-60 seconds approving it.
But, county Administrator Patrick Herron took the time to let them know the change was a very minor thing in the grand scheme of things, however, the commissioners are a public body. By approving the change in a public meeting, citizens can know what the county is doing and to provide
MILLERSBURG — A Wooster man on Wednesday was given a chance to avoid prison when he was sentenced to complete a treatment program for admittedly being in possession of methamphetamine. Shaun Hall, 38, 540 High St., previously pleaded guilty in Holmes County Common Pleas Court to aggravated possession of meth. In exchange for his guilty plea, a related charge of aggravated trafficking in meth was dismissed. Hall had faced up to a year in prison for the charge, and Judge Robert Rinfret imposed a term of 11 months, but immediately suspended the period of incarceration in favor of five years of community control, which includes the condition he complete a treatment program at the Stark Regional Community Corrections Center.
The court cases Goldberg and Wheeler do not stand for the proposition that only welfare benefits for people in extreme circumstances are entitled to pre-termination hearings. However, this is one situation where cutting off benefits with little or no notice could affect the well-being of the family or person. Any programs that offer they type of assistance people rely on to survive could benefit from pre-termination hearings, not just the welfare program. Welfare is one of the main public assistance programs, although I think housing assistance and food stamps might fall into the welfare category, they are also in need of a pre-termination hearing. In the Goldberg and Wheeler cases, California and New York did not want to give anyone a hearing
They say that it is better that ten guilty men go free then one innocent man be wrongly convicted. On a 60 Minute broadcast, reporter Lesley Stahl did a story regarding the wrongful imprisonment of an innocent man based off of a rape victim’s eyewitness identification. The man convicted of the crime was sentenced to life plus fifty years at the age of twenty-two for a crime he never committed. Eleven years later, his innocence was finally proven when DNA was able to exonerate and clear his name.
Court proceeding and judgment change eventually with time. Every case that is heard within the court system might potentially alter court proceedings that follow. The courts up hold the law and make sure that the defense and prosecution abide by it for a clear judgment. After reading Case No. 09-3133 REGINALD MEEKS v. DAVID MCKUNE, and Case No. 05-5049 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA v. CONRAD DOMINIC POOLE, law that protect the defendant are up held in court if there is reason to believe an error in conviction has occurred. If applying to appeal to the court’s decision and it’s valid it will be heard.
The results of the trial in Stamford was that Mercy Disborough was temporarily convicted of witchcraft while Goody Clawson was acquitted. The consequences for Mercy Disborough were that despite months and jail and continued peer accusation, she was acquitted. The consequences for the townspeople are blurrier, but it is evident that persistent hysteria was not one of them. The results of the trial in Stamford were largely reigned in from the massive hysteria and mass convictions associated with contemporary witch trials by the law.
Michael M. vs Superior Court is the case that brought gender-neutrality in the criminal justice system to the light. Before this case was presented to the court, few states had adopted a gender-neutral statutory rape case and California, where the case took place, was not among them. The defense argued that California’s rape laws went against the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. Then there was case of Mary Kay Letourneau, a former schoolteacher that was engaging in a sexual relationship with her 12 year old student. Letourneau was sentenced to 6 moths in jail while Michael M. received 10 years.
Many people talk to work things out. in this case governors and other important people have conventions to work things out by having conventions and debates. in the two stories that I read there was a problem but they all talked and had meetings to reach a solution. One way that people have used to solve a problem is by having conventions. It is good to have a convention because everyone gets on the same level.

The Supreme Court has been used for basically the entirety of America’s history. Though many think of recent ones or cases in the past century when thinking about the Supreme Court, the 1800s had many Supreme Court cases that were pivotal to America. Marbury v. Madison was a case in the Supreme Court decided in 1803. When John Adams was in his final days of presidency, he nominated people to serve as justices of peace for D.C., but his secretary did not deliver all of the commissions by the time Thomas Jefferson became president, and William Marbury was one whose commission was not delivered. When Jefferson became president, he ended up disallowing his secretary James Madison from delivering the commissions, but Marbury along with other
1. Richard Griffin will not be allowed to testify. Just because a bank officer “assured” him that he would only owe 25 percent of whatever balance was unpaid, it was not written into the loan. As per the parole evidence rule which states that when two parties make an integrated contract, neither one may use parole evidence to contradict, vary or add to its terms. Mr. Griffin is bound by the loan that he had signed and not by what they had agreed to that wasn’t in the loan agreement.
Ohio law requires that the parents of suspended students are to be notified within 24 hours of the suspension, and the principal must state the reasons for the suspension. Six of the nine students attended school at Marion-Franklin High School. They were suspended for disruptive and disobedient behavior. Two others, Dwight Lopez and Betty Crome, attended Central High School and McGuffey Junior High School. They were suspended for an incident in the school lunchroom that caused some property damage.

Education can be explained as the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits, and is the most valuable resource that one could have in life as, firstly, education facilitates learning and critical thinking, secondly, it allows for dreams of the future in terms of success to become a reality and lastly, it prevents the children of today from risking their future due to the influence of environmental hazards (Brooks, 2006). After studying the points discussed, it can be said that education plays an important role in the development of each and every human being and is not on categorized under scholarly education but rather any experience that allows an individual to broaden his/her knowledge. Amy Gutmann, an American political theorist proposed a theory surrounded around the democratic state of education requiring parents and states - to surrender some educational authority to professional education staffs’, also indicating that the children of today do not just benefit from freedom of choice, or identification with and participation in the positive aspects of their family and political aspects of the society. Amy’s theory is based on the characterisation of the three models of educational control namely Locke’s Theory of Parental control,
Assessing student’s social responsibility and civic learning Reinventing commitment have been started by campuses as to public services through central coordination of community partnership activities, support for curricular-based service learning activities, and recognition of civic-minded practice in evaluation and promotion of faculty work. Student who enrol into colleges are also eager to engage themselves into civic learning.
