In “Animal Farm” written by George Orwell, the animals strive to create their own Utopian society where the all animals are treated equally and happily. But due to the ignorance of animals, the society collapses. Animals were also convinced by a small eloquent pig, named “Squealer”. When Snowball was exiled, Squealer became the right hand of Napoleon. Squealer represents Vyacheslav Molotov, who was a diplomat of Soviet Union and undertook the central role of communist propaganda.

The desire for power has been a major issue in history since time immemorial. Animal Farm by George Orwell is an allegory that explores the concept of Communism and the Russian Revolution through the perspective of animals living on a farm. In the novella, farm animals are overworked and treated cruelly by their owner, Mr. Jones. A rebellion occurs in which the animals take over the farm and create their own society based on Animalism, a government similar to Communism. However, they soon realize it may not be the perfect society after all when leaders compete for control over the farm.

He undertakes actions similar to this countless times in the novel. When Snowball goes against what Napoleon wants he sends dogs after him to chase him away from the farm. Squealer’s use of fear tactics throughout the story is very persuasive with the simple animals. Using the dogs as enforcers, rationing, and even public executions all help keep the animals submissive. The consequences of Squealer’s use of pathos are mainly positive for him and he easily manipulates most of the animals into keeping Napoleon in power.

Squealer and Napoleon both manipulate them into being leaders of the farm. Like said in chapter eight, “It had become usual to give Napoleon the credit for every successful achievement and every stroke of good fortune.” (Orwell 100) Squealer tries to manipulate the animals into thinking that Boxer died and the doctors couldn’t save him, but if the animals were to have been educated then they would’ve been able to read the side of the van. They were inspired to rebel against the humans by Major, a twelve year old pig that would soon die. The animals on Mr. Jones farm run Jones and his men off the farm in order to accomplish the goal of having animalism present on the farm.
