Animal Farm Is Better Than Manor Farm Ever

#16 Lopez, Galilea Honors English II Period 3 9/21/15 Squealer Manipulative, persuasive, and cunning are all words that can be used to describe Squealer. In the book, Animal Farm he’s described as a plump pig with a shrill voice, nimble movements, and a brilliant talker. Squealer has a way with words. He’s very skilled at talking and getting people to see things his way. He can change people’s perspective on things.

Animal Farm vs. Holocaust The book Animal Farm is similar to the Holocaust because people and animals take over. In the Holocaust, Hitler took over and in Animal Farm, Napoleon took over. Animals or people (depending on the case) get killed due to disagreements. Hitler didn't agree with Jewish religion and certain animals didn't agree with Napoleons' actions. There were superior and inferior groups of animals or people.

They are unable to read and write which allows the pigs to get away with what they do. Covering up unethical new laws, squealer proclaims, "Tactics, comrades, tactics!" (…) The animals were not certain what the word meant, but Squealer spoke so persuasively, and the three dogs who happened to be with him growled so threateningly, that they accepted his explanation without further questions” (Orwell, 39). Pigs are generally known as smarter animals and use this advantage to cover up their actions, as well as, create an image of authority.

The farm fails because of the pigs not being fair to the other animals, plus the animals being too dumb to realize it. The other animals made mistakes, by not speaking up when they thought something was wrong. Animal Farm starts to fail because pigs start to make power grabs that screws the “perfect life” vision the animals have. These reasons, including many more, are why Animal Farm fails. One reason Animal Farm fails, is because of power grabs by animals.

To begin, in the stories of “Animal Farm” the book concludes on how the animals of Manor Farm turn into the owner of them by dictating each other, stealing ideas from one another, changing rules, overworking each other, and being just overall a communist farm. The author’s perspective and tone regarding intelligence explains how the pigs and Napoleon used their intelligence to trick and persuade the animals to their way of living. In the book “Animal Farm”, “The pigs did not actually work, but directed and supervised the others. With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume the leadership” (Orwell 12). The pigs dictate the animals and use them as slaves because they were not intelligent.

Many revolutions have similar characteristics whether they are non fiction or fictional. This is shown in the Korean War and in Animal Farm. Even though the revolution in Animal Farm is Fictional a lot of the characteristics to the Korean War or Korean Revolution are alike. Throughout the course of the Korean War, North Korea’s leader Kim Il-Sung, had similar characteristics to Animal Farm’s Napoleon, such as they were both dictators.

One reason why animal farm failed is that not all animals were equal because they had different abilities and were treated differently. Another reason is that not all animals weren't lazy thinkers they were forced to be in charge and they couldn't learn . A third reason is that Napoleon didn't think of others, he was e thinking of himself and the animals were doing all what napoleon told to do. The corruption of power in Animal Farm has gone badly. The entire pigs act like a monarch over other animals. They often corrupt in some many ways especially Napoleon and Mr. Jones that they all have different leadership except all of them are dictators. One of the things that make Farmer Jones bad is that they don’t feed the animals properly.

Animal Farm’s intentions were to be an allegory of the Russian Revolution and both were uses of propaganda in similar ways. In the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks used propaganda to declare their laws and rules to the Russian population and their authority of the Russian Revolution. In Animal Farm, propaganda was mostly used by the pigs. The use of propaganda allowed Napoleon to persuade the animals that Snowball was the reason their hard work of the windmill was wasted and that he was the reason of all the negative aspects of their lives. Also, the use of propaganda also benefited the pigs into having to do less work at times or them gaining the most apples or milk.

The pigs are fat while everyone else is starving. Everyone sees Squealer walking on his hind legs and right after him comes the rest of the pigs walking on their hind legs. The sheep start to say “Four legs good, two legs better” (Orwell, 134). Benjamin finally consented to break his rule.

The pigs take something very valuable away from the animals on Animal Farm. The song they sang that inspired them and gave them the reminder of freedom is now forbidden for them to sing. This depicts how Squealer is taking away the past and now trying to twist the animals views of Animal Farm. Throughout the novel Squealer always adjusted to the techniques that he thinks the animals would best listen and agree to, whether it would be to make the animals fear or to transform the

Right after Squealer defended the pigs sleeping in the farmhouse, the pigs were given another special benefit. “...it was announced that from now on the pigs would get up an hour later in the mornings than the other animals…”(Page 62). Why can’t the other animals wake up later? This announcement proves that the pigs were given more benefits than all the other animals. Another example of this discrimination is how all the pigs and dogs have comfortable beds and enough food to feed their large community.

In addition, Squealer often threatens the animals that Mr. Jones will return if they did not follow as instructed by Napoleon to manipulate the farm animals. For instance, pigs decided that the milk and windfall as well as the main crops of apples should be reserved for the pigs alone. Ostensibly, pigs need to be in healthy state as they claimed to be the Einstein of the welfare of the farm. Here also, Squealer threatens the animals that Jones would return if they oppose the idea. In the past, the animals had the ability to speak out at the farm Meetings, even if they chose not to. However, now that Napoleon took this right away from them, he got to be in charge of all the decisions for the farm and no one could contradict him. He makes them believe everything he and the pigs are doing is for the greater good of the whole farm despite the fact that it is not. Squealer controls them in many ways but the strongest or most apparent are telling the other animals Mr. Jones their neglective abusive owner will come back, lying about Boxer the horse’s death, and finally changing the unalterable commandments into one that reads “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. One of the very first and most used techniques Squealer uses is instilling fear in the animals. He does this by threatening Jones’s return.
