Jackson was a frontier president. He used his position to shift the center of political power from the East to the West. He was an influential national figure who believed that the president is someone who symbolized the interests of the people. The president shouldn’t just be an executive, but a person who can run the government with the people’s will in mind. His goal was to end the government’s corruption and cure the country’s financial problems, which he thought were caused by the rich elites running businesses and other financial corporations.

Andrew Jackson grew up as an agriculturalist and joined the armed force. He battled in the war of 1812 and was viewed as a war hero for his accomplishments in New Orleans. As a government official, Jackson had a foundation of being a normal man, in this manner he comprehended what battles they experienced and could suit for them. Jackson indicated sympathy toward issues such as agricultural and mechanic development, and democratic values. It was these concerns that supported Jackson to endure in a common man morals.

Jackson believed that “Adams and Clay had conspired together to thwart justice” (Oates 255), and that thinking spread to his supporters. Jackson was seen as a force fighting against “corrupt elitists” that “used government for their own betterment” (Oates 257). In the public eye, Jackson was seen as both a war hero and a protector of the common man. Its no surprise he was appealing to the masses, especially to the poor, Western citizens from Jackson’s homeland. Jackson was a determined person. When he believed in something he would never give up until he got it. At times where Jackson could have cost his presidency but he stood next to what he believed in. He stood up what was right and went against everyone at times for his morals. Even at times he failed but he would just right back on it and tried again.

My historical figure is Andrew Jackson and I am going to be discussing his hard life on the things he went through to get to his successful life as the seventh president. It all began where he was born and raised in waxhaws. Waxhaws was near the North carolina and South carolina border. It was a small area, but jackson got through a lot of tough times in that town. Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaws.

He grew up poor, his father died before his birth, was enlisted to war at the age of thirteen, Mother died shortly after returning home from war, and he also survived a British encapture. Jackson however was a Tyrant who grasped and ringed out the towel of power that he behold.

Jackson was one of the first presidents of the new nation in the early 1800s. He served eight years in chair from 1829-1837. Before his term as presidency he was known as a "war hero". He gained many supporters from common people by discriminating against the rich. During his presidency Jackson encouraged Americans to create a smaller government with more involvement from citizens.

Andrew Jackson was a democrat because he believed in the political and social equality of all people. For example, Jackson fought the federal bank because he felt that it was not accessible to the common people. He also put his loyal followers in office with him in order to do what was best for the country and its people. Jackson was elected by the people, not a state legislature as well. He used his political power to benefit the lives of those who were not represented as often in the government.

Jackson developed the economy in a way that no man had too much but every man were financially stable. Jackson built new roads and made other infrastructural improvements especially in the south that were of benefit to the more working class “common man”. Jackson also introduced many Acts and Movements that would help to improve the United States and improve the lives of all US citizens. Andrew Jackson, a former orphan and a war hero, was a popular choice when he was elected seventh President of the United States in 1828. This was based on the fact that Jackson did not hail from a wealthy or “elite” background but from the working class western state of Tennessee.

For example he decided to let the people vote on the state senators and take a part in presidential elections also. The presidential elections slowly went from being almost completely all legislatures to majorly the people voting. Jackson focused and encouraged giving power to the common people. The American people liked him so much that they traveled from all over the country just to go see him. As our land got bigger and we gained more territory, Andrew Jackson changed many regulations.

In addition, his time in office led to increased land transportation to support a strong industrial and agricultural economy within the nation. For the most part, all of these helped the American people. They not only allowed the majority to succeed, but they also helped them better understand politics through Andrew Jackson’s

Andrew Jackson presidency focused a lot on small government and pleasing the common man. He attempted to shut down national banks to make government smaller. Jackson also enforces things like the Indian Removal Policy, which strengthened the bond between Jackson and the common man. Jackson was the first and only president to make the country debt too. All of these impacted are government today very much as well as other governments around the world.

Andrew Jackson was one of the greatest presidents who made very difficult decisions for our country. Although his choices were not always the popular decision, he made choices that were always promoting democracy. The things that make a good democracy are: giving people a say in government, having a good leader that you can trust to make wise decisions, peace and stability between each country and other states, and having equal power in the government (checks and balances). Andrew Jackson came into office with a popular vote and great support. His supporters viewed him as a man of the people.

Andrew Jackson during his time was considered a very patriotic politician he hated the rich, he hated the Indian, and loved the idea of slavery. It has been said that he grew up not educated and had a bad up bring but still managed to get to a high political suture. Jackson at one point was general and had a very decorated portfolio, which made sense he would become president, Andrew was most well know for “The Battle of New Orleans” where Andrew Jackson, prevented the British Army and General Edward Pakenham, from seizing New Orleans nearing the end of that war.
