The event that I went to was Bill Clinton’s speech for the Hillary Clinton campaign. Clinton gained attention of the audience by speaking about current events in phoenix such as the Phoenix Suns and also by talking about campaigns that are going on in the phoenix area and correlating it with Hillary Clinton’s involvement as Secretary of State. He also raised his credibility to the audience by emphasizing to the audience on how he was president and how he knows the struggle and how to solve issues. The main points emphasized during his speech were health insurance, income of people, college education, green energy/sustainability by talking about how this is creating jobs. When Clinton explained the main point, he was clear to the audience on what point he is speaking about. He did this by correlating the points to current events. An example is when Clinton was talking about money and income. When Clinton talked about income he said, “incomes are going to rise, income is not its best right now,” he followed this by …show more content…
Clinton did not use any type of visual aid during his speech. Clinton was able to make his point across to the audience without providing any visual points because I believe that Clinton was well prepared with his speech because he did very well in correlating his topics with current events and also by the use of credibility as past president. Clinton had a few nonverbally communication strategies. First, Clinton used hand gestures to enhance his suggestions and ideas. I believe he did this to make a picture to the audience in order for them to picture what he is saying in the audience’s head. Also, Clinton did not stay at the podium the whole time when he was speaking. He walked back and forth. This strategy was successful to him because it showed
This speech had a very serious tone, and was as emotional as it was logical. In the emotional aspect, he alluded to several different situations that made the People think, as the end goal of this speech was to get the People to vote for him in the election, and so the allusions he made causes People to see him in a much more different light, a serious light rather than the more humorous one he had as an actor. In a logical sense, he gave many statistics and how he can change things from one to another, and through his use of emotion and logic, his speech ended up being structured in a phenomenal way and the influence he had with this speech extended to every corner of America. Every American hearing the words he used was affected to a huge extent that it wasn't even funny. He showed respect for the old ways, for how things used to be taken care of, but he explained to the People that those ways simply won't work anymore, and new ways needed to be used, and that he is that new way,
The president was able to rally the nation because of his ability to accentuate our opponents lack of character, while simultaneously ensuring our victory. The reason that the argument was effective was because the president was able to ensure that the people realized how unforgivable the element of
He glanced down at his papers, but made good eye contact and talked directly to the people when he looked up. His tone changed with the importance of the words and phrases he was saying and the points he was trying to make. He also used well placed pauses that emphasize and add importance to what he is saying. He made hand gestures which are mostly hidden by the podium until the end of his
President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s State of the Union Address in the year 1942 opened with a powerful start. He remained good in posture, strong verbal skills, gestures and strong eye contact with his audience which goes to show confidence and being in control of your speech (Stephen D. Boyd, 2017). He addressed the Americans, the citizens of the United States before he mentioned anything. He went to show that the President, himself found faith in their spirits and how he was merely proud of his citizens. He presented a powerful statement to his audience by acknowledging them and according to Matt Eventoff, “a statement or phrase can catch the audience’s attention by keeping them guessing as to what you’re about to say next.
Many of the ideas Bill Clinton had accomplished were small, yet somewhat affective. Clinton had also passed welfare reform for providing health coverage for millions of children. This also helped in aiding the poor and
Speeches have been a main staple of political rhetoric that goes has been America’s history. There have been memorable speeches from passionate citizens such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Sojourner Truth, and many speeches from our past presidents that have influenced America today. One such speech was given by President Bill Clinton when he addressed the American public on September 11 in 1998 to answer for a moral scandal that took place in the nation’s capital that involved himself and Monica Lewinsky, an intern working at the White House. When called to speak about the internal affair at the White house Clinton gave a memorable speech in which he used clever and strategic language to illicit certain feelings and actions from his unhappy crowd. His mastery of language and his understanding of the people he was speaking to comes through in one intentional speech.
A domestic terrorist bombing in Oklahoma City on April 19th, 1995, killed 168 people (including small children) and injuring more than 680 others. Four days later, on April 23rd, 1995, President Bill Clinton gave a speech addressing this event at the Memorial Prayer Service. Clinton speaks to everyone affected from the bombing to unite the country in this feeling of tragedy, and to show the victims, and their families, that they are not alone. In his speech, President Bill Clinton uses pathos to unite the country in a feeling of tragedy and loss.
These devices create a speech that is clear to the audience, relatable to a wide variety of people, and develop strong pathos. It is because of his successful and abundant use of rhetoric that Obama’s speech turned him from an Illinois Senator into a rising star with a presidential
Being that the speech was addressed to a public affairs
By the end of his Presidency, Clinton was able to make education a priority, which to me was his greatest success. But, just like anyone, Clinton had his high times and low times. Other than his huge sex scandal that lost his popularity with
This speech was given in the Rose Garden of the White House on Friday, December 11, 1998. Bill Clinton wrote this speech due to having an affair with Monica Lewinsky. He wanted Congress and the people to know that he was profoundly sorry for all that he has done wrong. Bill Clinton uses figurative language to make his speaking more effective. Repetition
Defending allies and interests, showing purpose without arrogance, meeting aggression with resolve and strength, and speaking for American values are all ideals that the American people can unanimously agree upon. In conclusion, George W. Bush was able to give a meaningful speech. Bush gave an effective inaugural address by using biblical allusions, collaborative language, and an anaphora in order to unite the country after a contentious election. His rhetoric added value to his speech and made it one to remember.
Bill Clinton is known as one of the most powerful speakers in the United States, and he impresses his audience by his speeches and the rhetorical devices that he includes in his speeches and addresses. For example, he effectively delivers his inaugural address with a convincing tone and some of the rhetorical devices such as allusions and strong diction. In his 1993 inaugural address, Clinton discussed the issues that America faced in the 20th century such as health care costs and low wages. He mentioned that these issues are not solved because America has not “made changes” and made progress to solve the conflicts and restore the economy. Because of this, Clinton knew it was important to ensure that all of the nation was behind him, and if
