In the book ‘’Into The Wild” (1996), by Jon Krakauer the author described the journey of a young man named Christopher Johnson McCandles. Who traveled different states of the United States as Alexander Supertramp. Jon Krakauer traces Alex’s journey into the wild by providing information from a third person point of view and also shares the comments of people whom encounter Alex throughout his journey that ended when Alex decided to hitchhiked to Alaska and travel by foot into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley . The highest mountain in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet above sea level. Alex body was found four months later frozen and decomposed by a moose hunter.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to live in the wild, and become a whole new person, or what it is like to live in the wild to find yourself? Well if you have then I recommend that you read the book titled ¨Into the wild¨ written by Jon Krakauer. In this book there is a man named Chris McCandless who left society and went into the wilderness of Alaska and cut off all contact with the outside world. He wanted to find himself, and become a better person. Some may believe that Chris went into the wild to escape a toxic relationship with his parents, but the real reason he left everything was he wanted to find himself, and he felt as if he could function without everyday things.

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, displays a true story about a young man named Christopher McCandless, who left his whole life behind to experience a journey hitchhiking across the country, until he settles on a plan on going to Alaska. Christopher settled to go to Alaska, north of Mountain McKinley to experience the extremes of living in the wilderness with little to nothing of supplies. During Christopher time period at Emory University, he expresses the inspiration he gains from reading books and the understanding of the different idealistic thoughts from Tolstoy, Stegner, Thoreau, Jack London, and Pasternak. That influenced his mindset on wanting to experience the love for nature in a perspective of personal growth and mental development

“Being footloose is always exhilarated us it's associated in their minds with escape.” Chris from the book “Into The Wild”,by Jon Krakauer, is a transcendentalist because he wanted to escape from the materialistic world and avoid Cytie and to do so he went into the wild. Transcendentalists believe that escaping the materialistic world will bring you to your true self Henry David thoreau a famous transcendentalist once said, "our life is a frittered away by details... simplicity, simplicity, simplicity, I say, that your affairs be as two or three and not hundred or thousand... simplify, simplify. ”Thoreau is saying that People are to bound to a materialistic world and need to break away and if one were to have less things going on could experience life the way one should.

Most people look down upon Chris’s lifestyle and find it foolish, although this lifestyle has its flaws in the long term, this way of life carries a sense of beauty and nonconformity that most people will never understand. This lifestyle is not only full of beautiful and adventure but it gives life experiences that are worth more than money could buy. When Jon asked about Chris to one of his former co workers she replied with, “When he talked, he was always going on about trees and nature and weird stuff like that. We all thought he was missing a few screws” (40 Krakauer). Although Chris may come off as “missing a few screws” he was actually very intelligent

He was doing what he wanted to do not what they told him to do. It looked like after his dad having a double life Chris's relationship with his parents went down the drain, he begins to see his father as a liar and no good, and it was like he doesn't want nothing to do with his parents no more. As the chapters go on it seems to me his father had taught Chris to live one way, and it turned out that his father was willing to live another way, Like in the passage called Doctor Zhivago, by Boris Pasternak he wrote in the margin "Need for Purpose. " it

Into the Wild is a film by Sean Penn that talks about the journey Chris decided to take, leaving behind his parents and his dreams. He graduated from Emory University as a top student/athlete only to decide he was tired of everything and decided to embark in a journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Christopher McCandless decided to leave behind the american dream in seek of a life full of freedom. As Shaun Callarman stated “ I think Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his romantic silliness.

The protagonist of Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless, strives for his independence from his parents’ overbearing control, and he decides that his best option to escape is by going to the Alaskan Frontier and live there. As McCandless travels around the country to get to his ultimate destination, he becomes acquainted with several people that attempt to deter him from going to Alaska Frontier. Jim Gallien, the last person to talk to Chris, attempts to dissuade him by describing how “The rivers are big and fast. The mosquitos eat you alive. Krakauer’s Argument In Krakauer’s argument he does make an effective case justifying McCandless behavior. Krakauer mentions in his argument, he stated, “McCandless wasn’t as stupid, tragic, and inconsiderate, but instead paints a sympathetic picture of a young man with a profound moral compass seeking a higher truth”. This means that Chris McCandless just wanted to get away from the society he once knew before and just go find his peace in himself and the world. He thought by going out into the wild, that it would solve the problem, even though he did not really know how to actually survive in the wild..

Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many positive things to say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this adventure to find out what life is all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how different living in the wild really was compared to society because he was not satisfied with his living arrangements and household. Shaun’s quote says that he thinks “Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness.

The structure of American civilization contains many constraints that guide a person through a normal life in its society. Rejecting the conventions of civilization, the way Chris McCandless did in Jon Krakauer’s Into The Wild, is justifiable because it allows one to find happiness in their lives. If someone disagrees with these constraints that exist, they should be allowed to live in a way that satisfies them as long as it lies within or just barely outside of the formal laws established by the U.S. government. Through this rejection, a person should be more concerned with their personal debts rather than social, discover their own solutions to the problems they face, and be able to express themselves in ways they see fit. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a dramatic but also remarkable story from a young, newly graduated, college student that escaped for a long wild journey but never came back. As time passes throughout the book, the reader may notice how the main character interacts with society and nature, finally McCandless dies in the wild but even though he was struggling for survival he died happy. Some people never get out of their comfort zone, others are tired of it and retire from their comfort zone to have different experiences in life, some are good enough or some are terrible.
