Introduction
Before computers or phones came about, books were the original source of entertainment that allowed humans to explore the world outside of their daily boundaries. Fantasy novels over all other genres, allows the reader to experience an entirely new universe. This aspect is what makes the fantasy genre so fascinating. There are no set generally accepted criteria for determining the boundaries of fantasy. (Klinger 6) It is hard to distinguish between fantasy and related genres such as science fiction. (Timmerman 2) Then what kind of unique features does fantasy have that allows it to be identified as fantasy? The Beautiful Creatures series is a #1 New York Times bestseller today, it has been published in 50 countries and translated into over 30 languages. “Beautiful Creatures” was a finalist for the ALA’s William C. Morris Debut award and SCIBA award in 2010. It was named Amazon’s #1 Teen book of 2009, and #5 on the Editor’s Top 100 List. As if replying to the fan appreciation, there has been an extended sequel of the series as well, which includes “Dangerous Creatures”. Before Kami Garcia worked with Margaret Stohl to write “Beautiful Creatures”, she wrote short stories. Thomas wakes up not remembering anything from his past life, he meets a group of men who do not know where they came from as well. The men have made a society within the maze, but danger starts to attack them. The people must make a choice between escaping the maze full of unexpected obstacle or continuing to live inside the Glaze even if they might be attacked again. Thomas is the leader of the group who decide to escape the maze, to survive they must run. (Dashner’s Life 2017)

“There are tens of hundreds of thousands of new novels published every year” (Matt Kirschenbaum). Well we have some good ones here. There has been “21 books that is a science fiction book but has a big influence of fantasy” (I09). “The Day it Rained Cats” is a fantasy book. Who knows it could be one of them.
In How to Read Literature Like a Professor, Thomas C. Foster discusses various literary themes to help the reader more thoroughly understand and analyze pieces of literature. Foster references several literary works to demonstrate the depth added from the implication of the concepts. He writes that many authors use the same tools to shape their writing, therefore “Literature … grows out of other literature”(Foster 24). He also elaborates upon how the context changes the notion the reader receives from a device, such as with different weather or the mood when sharing food. Common literary themes, such as communion and weather, can be applied to “The Interlopers” and “The Scarlet Ibis” to further understand the meaning of these devices within the context of the stories.
Universal themes advance the plot of the movie and push the story along. Such themes that exist in “The Maze Runner” are heroic scenarios, likeable characters, interesting ways to tell a story, and social cohesion. A theme of heroic scenarios can be found in the story of “The Maze Runner”. An example of a heroic scenario from this story is how Thomas daringly enters the maze
First, Dashner uses mood in, “Maze Runner,” to make the reader feel desperate. Towards the end of the book grievers begin attacking the boys, AKA the gladers. The boys are being attacked and their is nothing they can do to fend off the grievers. James Dashner uses imagery to develop this desperate mood. " Frozen, Thomas watched as one of the griever's long arms reached for the lifeless body.
To start off thomas from the maze runner series is the main character. He has several conflicts within the scorch trails that are both internal and external conflicts. This essay however is about internal conflicts between thomas and himself. The first place you can see this is when a big storm hits, and Minho is struck by lightning.
The creature would listen to the family read, “This reading had puzzled me extremely at first; but, by degrees, I discovered that he uttered many of the same sounds when he read, as when he talked.” (Shelley 79) The creature learned the small vocabulary he left with from the cottagers. In the book, Thomas has a bad pattern of acting without thinking. The author, James Dashner uses personification, and a metaphor to illustrate that Thomas makes lots of crucial decisions that can change the story of the maze greatly, even without thinking about his actions, or consequences that happen next. This time spent here helped to begin to develop the creature’s mind, proving he was in fact rather intelligent. The monster knew that he was different from these people, often describing them all as beautiful. He knew they would not accept him, and yet his search for belonging and family continue to surge the novel forward. While the creature is lonely and hurting, his actions slowly become malicious.
The Maze Runner and the Lord of the Flies are two distinctive works of art that exude distinctive similarities and disparities. As two important works of art, there are thematic facets that are exuded in the two works of art. The two works of art show differences and similarities especially in the themes and other facets. The book was suspenseful; it kept drawing me in for more, each and each day. The book really enlightened me because the suspense and action kept my mind thinking and racing with thoughts that I thought I could connect to the book and make predictions on the future events in the book. The themes between my paragraphs were basically saying you have to look at the bigger picture of the story, just like Thomas did in the maze. The theme of my essay correlates with my title. What I mean about ‘running the maze’ is that to get through the maze you have to look at the bigger picture and find a solution.

The myth genre includes seemingly historical stories, often supernatural in nature, and concerning the early history of a group of people. They are often used to explain the roots of a long standing cultural practice or of a natural or social occurrence. They frequently involve supernatural beings or events.
Characterization in literary fiction that has special importance, and authors develop their sense of responsibility for full and effective character development. Character is everything in literary fiction. Characters can also be animals or whatever the writer chooses to act in his/her story. Simply, characters literally make things happen in a story.
