The use of anabolic steroids in the sport has had its positive impact on athlete’s performance and the sport itself, especially its impact on raising both levels of performance and competition in sporting events. Anabolic steroids and PEDS are sold to athletes to allow them look, perform and feel better after heavy workouts.
Probably there is no athlete a live at any level that has bot considered using steroids at least in some point of their career. Furthermore, any normal person when they workout, they are going to break down their muscles and it usually takes about 48 hours in between workouts for your muscles to repair themselves which is called muscle recovery. While anabolic steroids speed up this process, so rather than taking 48 hours it may take 24 hours or less. Therefore, un-natural athletes are able to workout more frequently, longer more intensely and then recover faster so they can workout again.

During the seventies, the East Germans had a phenomenal record in the pool competitions, but it was not until about 20 years later when it was finally emerged that they had a drug program in place. By the end of 1970s, steroids infected other sports in many countries, one of the famous cases was Ben Johnson who did two things, he got his gold medal taken away for doping anabolic steroids, second, he ran the fastest 100 meters that have ever been recorded in world’s history (during that time). Thus, he showed the world that steroids were really effective drugs, because when he came back to competition without steroids two years later, the headlines were “Ben Johnson is back… and he’s
Summary The article How many rugby players use steroids? It’s more like how many don’t by Steve Howell, is about the amount of people who use steroids to enhance their skills or to gain the body they want faster. He discusses how body builder are in denial of the problems with steroids and how in rugby they would be able to go “untackled” for years.
Commonly known as juice, roids, and gym candy, anabolic steroids or PEDs (performance enhancing drugs) are illegally used for unfair advantages by many players in Major League Baseball. Since the 1930’s, steroids have been available for use. Anabolic steroids are a synthetic type of male hormone, testosterone, that are used in combination with a workout. Also similar to steroids are human growth hormones commonly known as HGH. Both anabolic steroids and HGH help contribute to endurance during a hard workout, greater muscle mass and strength, and quicker recovery.
Anabolic steroids are used because athletes’ wants gain weight, muscle, and wants to become faster in a short period of time. In the Article “Why do people abuse anabolic steroids?” states that people suffering from behavioral syndrome
Players are taking the easy and fast way of getting to the top by using drug, but it is the wrong way. Athletes need to prove to their selves that working naturally can work if they dedicate themselves to it. Drug abuse is a serious matter and can destroy a human’s body, so as athletes or people that can help someone struggling need to take a stand against the use of
Steroids should only be used for medical reasons and not for better performance. I cannot seem to understand why athletes would take any kind of drug without medical advice or take any drug with so many hazardous side effects. There are reasons why people do what they do, but after researching performance enhancing drugs, I would not think of any reason to use such a drug with so many ill side effects. In my opinion, if you do not have the natural ability and have to rely on a performance-enhancing type of drug, you should not be playing. Drug testing would be the best idea, but it is still not 100% on results quite yet.
As the game continues to evolve with the equipment, the game will as evolve with steroid usage. The desire to be the best player and hit home runs have ruined the concept of playing small ball. Androstenedione and anabolic steroids are both designed to increase muscle mass in the body, which relates to an increase in power. With the prevalence of suspensions that are handed out because of the use of steroids, players should give up steroids and use hard work to get to where they desire to be. With the increase in knowledge in the medical field about steroids, it may be possible to create a way to detect steroids during test.
Every year the size of players ascends and these abusers continue to get away with little to no punishment. Highly sought after high school recruits turn to these to put on size before their first season of college football and collegiate players use them to prep for their possible future in the NFL. Due to the lack of testing, the upside for student-athletes to juice has almost become greater than the latter. Particularly in high school, the chance of a player actually getting busted does not deter them from cheating and trying to pack on excessive amounts of muscle. Every year parents lose kids that have thought they needed steroids to get bigger or improve their image.

Anderson, Jack. " Doping, sport and the law: time for repeal of prohibition?" International Journal of Law in Context.
By allowing professional athletes to use drugs, what message are we sending out to young sports players and those who idolize their sporting heroes? Is the goal to inform them on how to cheat, or how to use your own muscle and blood to win? Performance-Enhancing drugs used by athletes can cause many health problems and create an unfair advantage to other athletes. Many of the performance enhancers used have serious health risk and allow the use of such substances could cause peer pressure to all athletes to consider using them. Athletes dreaming to improve their performance the easy way are often the first you see to start using substances; this places them at risk of the many consequences.
In conclusion, Performance Enhancing Drugs should not be tolerated in any sport, whether professional or amatuer. These drugs are highly dangerous and even lethal to all athletes who use them. It is also unfair to athletes who choose not to use these drugs, as they are performing on their hard work and talent and not relying on an “edge” to help them reach their goals. These drugs are highly addictive, just like any other street drug or alcohol and can be fatal in many cases.
Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) have been used in sports for many years. The common term for it is doping. It is one of the most important issues among professional athletes today. Doping should not be allowed in professional sports. The use of performance-enhancing drugs creates a disadvantage for the athletes that don't use PEDs since they will not perform as well as the athletes that used the drugs during the game or competition.
Lastly (transition), many athletes that use steroids are better than their opponents, by cheating. Athletes that use steroids should have bigger consequences. First of all (transitions), reports show that athletes that use steroids have a number of health issues. According to www.drugabuse.gov , all steroid users could get liver damage, heart disease, changes in cholesterol, and weight loss. While (conjunctions) males will develop breast, have shrinking testicals,
¨Richard Callicott, former Chief Executive of UK Sport, stated in a Nov. 1, 2003 article titled¨ "Yes or No? Question of the Week: Drugs in Sport," published in The Times (London):"As the national anti-doping agency we will never accept this. Performance-enhancing drugs are not only prohibited because they violate the spirit of sport but because they can damage the health of athletes. In 1976, the East German swimming team won 11 out of 13 Olympic events, and later sued the government for giving them anabolic steroids. In 1992, Vicky Rabinowicz interviewed small groups of athletes.
Athletes use of performance enhancing drugs has become all too common in today’s society. With many athletes testing positive for doping, sports are becoming tarnished with athletes trying to gain an unfair advantage on their competitors. Although players are tested often for such drugs, there are still many loopholes and some drugs are not detected by current systems. So what would cause an athlete to put their body at risk to gain just a slight edge on their competitor? Sports should be a test of real skill, not artificial skills given by doctors.
Mr. J. Hirby of lawdictionary.org states: Many professional athletes take steroids illegally, which not only represent a potential felony convictions but may also result in permanent career damages. People take steroids because it helps them build muscle quickly and perform more effectively at top levels. However, they are considered cheating by many sports enthusiasts, and they are banned from use because no organization wants to lend its support to a practice that leads to severe health risks for the sake of improved athletic performance (Hirby). This quote stated above describes how it is in-fact cheating to use steroids in pro sports as believed by sport enthusiasts and many fans.
