“One year. Seven murders. One giant mystery” (Reed, 2017). Aileen Wuornos is remembered as one of the first female serial killers captured in the United States. Aileen Wuornos, originally named Aileen Carol Pittman, was born in Rochester, Michigan, on February, 29th, 1956. She was the daughter of Leo Dale Pittman, who was incarcerated at the time of her birth from a sentence for committing sexual crimes against children and molestation, later taking his own life in prison (Reed, 2017). Her mother, Diane Wuornos, abandoned both she and her brother, Keith, who were later adopted by their maternal grandparents Lauri Wuornos and Britta Wuornos (Reed, 2017). Convicted in 1991, she demonstrated biological factors from her father, who was a criminal psychopath, developmental factors due to her abusive upbringing environment as a child, along with mental disorders including conduct disorder, antisocial and borderline personality disorders.
Aileen grew up in a harsh and abusive environment by her grandfather who was an alcoholic that had physically and sexually abused her. Police linked the victims together due to Carskadden’s body intact with nine .22 caliber bullets. In that same month another man 65 year old Peter Siems left Jupiter, Florida and headed to New Jersey. On July 4th 1990 his car had been found abandoned in Orange Springs Florida where Wuornos’s palm print was found on the interior door handle. A witness had seen Wuornos and her lover Tyria Moore abandoning the vehicle. Peter Siems’s body however has never been found (The Crimes | Crime and Investigation, 2014).
As Governor, based on the facts given, the decision to commute Aileen Wuornos would have been under strict order. Examining these facts I would have recommended the courts to give her a fair chance to become a successful citizen withstanding her sentencing to life. Later, amongst progress, trial hearings to award availability of parole hearings. First psychiatric help for her mental disorder(s) as well as drug and alcohol treatment. Spiritual advisory, social counseling, and programs for life transformation amongst other programs offered, as well as educational programs.

They wanted her to write a letter to Wuornos with her contact information so police listen in on conversations between the two and get even more information about the crimes. She agreed to cooperate and even gave testimony against Wuornos. She claimed that Wuornos had mentioned to her before that she had killed a man. Moore told police she believed Wuornos had been killing people due to the accumulation of new items and cars, but did not want to question Wuornos any further fearing she would become an accomplice to the crime.
