He signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, and was named Rookie of the year that year, national league mvp in 1945, and a world series champ in 1955. Robert Trent “Bobby” Jones Bobby Jones was encouraged to play golf as a young boy in order to improve his strength and health. He practiced to become better at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, where he was born. The golf professional at this course helped Jones, but only with the basics so he did not mess with his natural skills. Bobby Jones won the Georgia State Amatuer Championship at age 14. On February 19, 2010 Tiger woods, a well-known golfer, took to the stand in front of a small group of family members, cameras, and media personalities. The subject of the press conference was to apologize for the cheating spree that he went on while married to Elin Nordegren. Woods took to the stand bearing multiple pieces of paper which he read directly from. During the speech he carried no pity for himself but at the same time asked the media to respect his privacy and allow him to make the changes needed in his life. From that moment on, the criticism, mockery, and foolish jokes began to surround Woods and his family.

Even though Lee had a “baseball-like swing”, but that didn’t stop him from getting a golf equipment named after him, and winning all these awards. Lee was also in the Marines for, four years and he loved it. He would play at golf matches when he was there, but his love for golf was so strong he wanted to go on and pursue his love for it. At the 1975 Western Open he got stuck by lighting but was still practicing golf in the hospital! I think it is amazing that even though he has been through so much he has fought through it because he didn’t want to give up golf.

In the 1950s there were several laws that kept African American people separated from White Americans. African Americans were not allowed to do anything with White Americans or even be close to them. The White Americans were so harsh toward them that they established laws that said that African Americans could not vote, could not enter the same building of White Americans, they was not even allowed to drink out of the same water fountain. The people of the South were very strict to their beliefs and laws and if any African American was caught breaking any of the laws they were punished and sometimes killed. Some African Americans that were not familiar with the dangers of the south were few of the unfortunate ones to lose their life.

Racism is a part of American history that can never be forgotten; a dark past that shows the constant mistreatment of African-Americans. Although African-Americans were freed from slavery in the 1860’s, discrimination continues to be seen today. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one 's own race is superior. The white supremacy woven into mainstream American culture led to the continued widespread exclusion of African-Americans.
