In the late 1800s, America began to grow and government decided to explore and expand to new lands. After sending explorers to see the new land, they began to move into the western territory where Natives were already settled.  Western expansion affected the lives of Native Americans during the period 1860- 1890 because Americans forcefully took their land, lives and traditions away. The government pushed for the removal of Natives in any way possible or get them to convert to American ways.

During the late nineteenth century, people were continuously expanding westward. White pioneers were continuously expanding and since the Native Americans were in the way, they had to be moved. Not only was there an economic aspect for moving the Native Americans, there was also a racial aspect. Native Americans were forced to give up their culture for the one of whites. This was all justified because whites wanted to expand westward to create more railroads, create farms, and mine for precious minerals.

The Europeans did not look at North America as occupied land; they viewed it more as a gold mine of opportunities. Europeans from all over the place started flooding into North America in search of success and wealth. The Native Americans were quickly overwhelmed by the power of the Europeans,

The U.S moved the Native Americans to small plots of land that the settlers called reservation. This land was something the government didn’t want. Some Native Americans didn’t want to move. So they were forced to by the U.S militia.

Another freedom important to me is being to enjoy myself without any fear of the government. In America you can do what you want as long as it is legal and can 't be punished by the government without a fair trial if you are accused of a crime.

Since America's were accustomed to dealing with foreigners, they were able to form alliances and trade networks, accepted political refugees, and allowed people in need of home and security to settle in regions that they dominated but could share. None of the North American community was cut off from the world or entirely autonomous. Since the colonists got all this new land in the Ohio River Valley they started expanding west. The natives did not like the colonists moving on to their land without their permission. The natives started attacking the colonists who were on their land and they started asking the government for help but got none. Also, when the french left, they left forts throughout the land and British soldiers started moving into them.

Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. The foundation of America is freedom. Freedom from Britain. However, the freedom is limited to white males who own property. When colonists started to immigrate to America, they wanted to escape from under the rule of Britain.

Before the thirteen colonies, the Native Americans inhabited North America. In 1607, the first permanent English settlement, Jamestown, was established. As the population of Jamestown increased, the settlement was required to expand. This began a long track record of invading Native American land and taking it without permission. Long after, the United States was formed.

First of all, Native Americans were settled on a hotbed of natural resources which included oil and precious metals such as silver and gold. There was also much fertile land that would entice farmers and frontiersmen to move out west. On this land there was so much potential economic opportunity for farmers, cattle drivers, miners and many other occupations. The government developed the popular public misconception that the indians were misusing the land and that Americans had the right to take advantage of the opportunities that lie in the west. These ideas led to the Dawes Severalty Act of 1887 which authorized encroachment of Indian lands by the US government in order to divide up reservations and control Indian activity.

Slavery Slavery was a life changing, horrific, and difficult time for the African Americans. They went through several trials daily. They came to America in 1619. Slavery became popular in the American colonies during the 18th century when slavery began to become well known and taken for granted. Slaves worked on tobacco,rice,cotton, and indigo plantations.

Freedom means the power or right to act, speak, or think without restraint, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Freedom is the correction to do what he/she wants, live life, and eat what he/she wants. How do we live free? We live free by not judging other people’s freedom rights. Everyone has their own rights.
