The U.S used to be a free open land. Native Americans used to roam this land by themselves along with other tribes. They would go out looking for supplies and what they needed. Later on
Europeans came along. When they met the tribes they saw a great opening to trade with them. As time passed by they started to settle and bring in more people. Later on they started to push the natives away from their freedom and their land. They used them as slaves, so that they could do the Europeans job.
This is where freedom was becoming a problem. More and more people arrived bringing slaves from Africa using them for everything. The slaves would beg for freedom.

It 's because of freedom that America is great place, its give everybody an equal opportunity in everything. People are hardily ever discriminated by others and we all get along weigh one another. Not only do adults have equality but so do kids, they can go to what ever school they want and just fit right in with others. They can make friends right away without someone telling them wrong. They can run around and just have a great time.

In the late 1800s, America began to grow and government decided to explore and expand to new lands. After sending explorers to see the new land, they began to move into the western territory where Natives were already settled. Western expansion affected the lives of Native Americans during the period 1860- 1890 because Americans forcefully took their land, lives and traditions away. The government pushed for the removal of Natives in any way possible or get them to convert to American ways.
During the late nineteenth century, people were continuously expanding westward. White pioneers were continuously expanding and since the Native Americans were in the way, they had to be moved. Not only was there an economic aspect for moving the Native Americans, there was also a racial aspect. Native Americans were forced to give up their culture for the one of whites. This was all justified because whites wanted to expand westward to create more railroads, create farms, and mine for precious minerals.

There was also much fertile land that would entice farmers and frontiersmen to move out west. On this land there was so much potential economic opportunity for farmers, cattle drivers, miners and many other occupations. The government developed the popular public misconception that the indians were misusing the land and that Americans had the right to take advantage of the opportunities that lie in the west. These ideas led to the Dawes Severalty Act of 1887 which authorized encroachment of Indian lands by the US government in order to divide up reservations and control Indian activity.
