What is life’s most extraordinary pleasure? For many, money, power, and/or fame come to mind, and the idea of helping others does not register. It seems for every person eager to help, there are millions ready to hurt or disregard those in need. Nevertheless, the world is not beyond salvation; there are numerous individuals willing to give their time and labor to transform the world into a better place for all. These devoted people are volunteers, and they believe life’s most extraordinary pleasure is the joy of helping others. I experience this joy every time I volunteer, and I recognize it as one of life 's greatest pleasures. My most rewarding volunteer experience was the time I operated a game booth at my church 's annual fair. I …show more content…
Volunteering is very important; it is both vital to the people receiving aid as it satisfies their needs, and it is important to those administering aid as it gives them joy and helps them become better people. The reason I volunteered for St. Margaret 's Fair was so I could finally stop sitting around and get to work. When I saw the opportunity to do something important, I grasped at it; I selected the ring toss game was because I felt it would be fun and important. I do believe my job at the St. Margaret 's Fair was very important as it both collected money for those in need and, at the same time, instilled me with a love of volunteering. The purpose of the fair was to collect money for humanitarian efforts in the local area. At that time, my region of Texas had ample poverty, and the church wanted to abate that burden. As a result, they created the fair, and it helped families ever since. My contribution might have been modest, but it was important because it, along with other contributions, added up into one big contribution that truly benefited the community. In addition to the money it raised, my job was important to me because it gave me a love of volunteering. As I mentioned above, this was my first attempt at volunteering, so before this, I never volunteered. This event showed me the joy of volunteering and established a love within me that still has not died. These two factors are why I will never forget this event, and why it inspires me to
I have volunteered at the Catholic Worker House preparing and serving food. I have also served food at the Salvation Army. I have volunteered at the Cedar Valley United Way, helping them with stuff around the office. Outside of school service I help my grandma, who has had a stroke. I'm always there to help her clean and get around the house.
I see the value in contributing time and work to an organization that helps others in need. Many people depend on food donations and the service and work provided by many people of the organization are making positive impact in the
It is a corner of the world that, to the best of its ability, dignifies every person who enters, no matter whether they are the giver or receiver – and often achieves this through blurring these roles. I think the energy of love and acceptance created here ripples out and affects the world in ways that are known only by God” (Megan Mcdonald). Volunteering creates a satisfaction of joy and happiness, not only to the volunteer, but to the guest as
The activities and events we host are always very fun and exciting. I have been a volunteer since my freshman year of high school, which is when they allow you to be a volunteer. Before that you may participate in the activities. I feel that this volunteer project does benefit both me and the recipients, because I get to experience such an amazing act of kindness that changes a person 's life forever. It also benefits the recipients, because they get to have their lives changed forever.
I helped my community by organizing and managing my church's blessing box since it supplies my community food and other resources to people that are as not as fortunate. Finally, I helped my community by assisting with the Reading High School Alumni Yearly Banquet since it allowed the alumni to improve the core health of the community since they play a major part in my community in various ways. I also plan to do more community service to assist all of the different communities I am a part of, doing this will also help me
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
When I was just a brownie, Girl Scouts was mostly about getting the prettiest patches for my sash and selling the most boxes of cookies, but over the years it has evolved into a much more meaningful activity. At the end of middle school and the start of high school, we did events such as preparing and serving meals at the Branford soup kitchen and organizing crafts for visits to the Ronald McDonald house in New Haven. Both of these events have greatly broadened my understanding of service to the community. While doing fundraisers or various drives are of unparalleled importance, literally interacting with the people my service is aimed to help allowed me to understand how donating a small fraction of time can be a way to try and better someone else’s day. Our troop has also been involved in other projects like fundraising for the local foundation Hope For Raptors, a group dedicated to protecting native birds and educating the community about them.
I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
I never thought that volunteering would bring me much happiness and joy. It feels very nice when you help others and this happens to me every time I prepare and fill the taxes of the people who come to do their taxes to our office. The people who come are people of low income, and my heart feels leno and beats hard every time I help someone. This is my first experience being a volunteer and now I want to
My experience in the volunteer world has given me the direction to see many views on the world we live in today. I have gone on a week-long mission trip 4 summers in a row and 5 out of the last 6 and it has become
My favorite act of service that I have ever done was through the school’s project based learning. I had heard that the NWC Men’s Basketball Team was building a house a Haitian family who’s house had collapsed with all their belongings. I then contacted the men’s basketball coach asking if my group and I could raise money to buy items for their house. We organized a traditional bake sale, as well as an online bake sale, to raise money for the family. In the midst of baking 40 dozen cookies and 38 dozen cupcakes, I was coordinating with a missionary in Haiti, Krisie Mompremier, who knew what the family needed most.
Beneficiaries called to ask me if I wanted to perform community service at a cathedral in Dallas, TX. I agreed because I like to volunteer in any event when it is needed. This event was called “Feed the Hunger,” which I signed up for and looked forward to because of my desire to lend a hand and assist the needy and unfortunate. At first, I thought this event was just one of those other community service opportunities that I am usually called to facilitate and volunteer my time. However, in the end, this occasion was a life-changing experience.
VI. So today, I hope to persuade each of you to take a part as volunteer in any kind of situation. VII. Because, by being a part as a volunteer, it can increase your socialization yet it can make you physical and mental health more better and can improve your career level.
My service goal was a success but one, I had a total of 4 and 3 ended up being successful. Physical activity became very big and the kids seem the enjoy it the most. Being able to go outside for some time and run around insead of being inside for a total of 3 hours help not only the kids but the workers as well. The time schedule was another sucess everyone was able to be on the same page and undertsns what was going to be taking place that day we kept the kids actove and busy the whole day so when pick up time was happening it made the day seem very smooth. Creating new activies was fun as well I thought it would be unique to come up with a cooking series.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
