The Battle of Borneo involved the Japanese, the Dutch and the British battling for certain territories of Borneo to get a strategic advantage for other battles to come. It happened during 13 December 1941 to 1 April 1942. The Japanese were led by Major General Kawaguchi. The Japanese, the Dutch and British were led by the principles of mission command which include competence, mutual trust, shared understanding, commander’s intent, mission orders, disciplines initiative, and risk acceptance. The Japanese, being well prepared and following the principles of mission command were led to victory over their opponents on 1 April 1942.

In this essay I will talk about the Army Leadership Code and its application, and about my personal ideal leadership model and how this fits in with the Army Leadership Code. There are many leadership models. The British Army uses the Army Leadership Code (SO2 Leadership, 2017). It uses the acronym LEADERS to make it easier to remember, each letter standing for a tenet of the code. The first is Lead by example.

The Marine Corps values rank structure and respect to that rank structure even if you are completely in the right to correct or call out a higher rank on something they did wrong it is demanded of you to use the upmost possible tact and respect. From Private to Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps this applies. Leader Competencies are leadership skills and behaviors that contribute to superior performance. Leaders outdated skills and behaviors encouraged change over many years. The three main categories of competences are to Lead, Develop, and Achieve. Army leaders serve to lead others, develop themselves, environment and profession as a whole, and to also achieve organizational goals. In order for an Army leader to lead they must apply the attributes to guide Soldiers towards a common goal and mission accomplishments.

They decided to keep her there because they knew how much I cared for her and that I would make sure she got the proper care from everyone else.
