In my 7 habits profile, I discussed wanting to work on two habits for specific reasons. The two habits that I talked about working on are my P/PC balance, and habit three. I still want to work on these because they are important to my physical and mental wellbeing, which are both very important to me. I still want to take action on both of these because improving my health and having a healthy life is important to me. There are many benefits to having a healthy mind, including better relationships with most people, better mindsets and healthier body, and better impressions on people which could help with job interviews. The consequences of things remaining how they have been, as I have not made very much improvement since I created my profile, …show more content…
I classify my issue as personal health because in my 7 habits profile, both of the sets that I talked about improving can relate to personal health. I feel this is because the P/PC balance talks about balancing things in life which can lead to a healthier life, and with habit three I talked about letting go of things from the past. Letting go of things from the past can improve my health because it would be letting go of a stress factor. The resources that I will need to work on these issues include, but are not limited to, my phone to keep in contact with people, a planner to keep my days organized, and daily time to myself with no contact other people. Having my phone to keep in contact with people will allow me to keep my relationships in good standing, keeping my days organized will help to keep my priorities straight as I lose sight of what I want by getting distracted by the tv, and daily time to myself without contact to others will give me time to improve the thoughts running through my head in my own time. As everyone has weaknesses, there would be things that can keep me from achieving these things that I want in life. In my opinion, these weaknesses would be procrastinating and playing games, not drinking enough water, not eating, and watching
I tend to make excuses for myself. I like to stay on the couch and do nothing, when I knew I should be working. In softball, Our coaches tell us to put in extra work; the extra work helps become a better player. All the extra things I do help me out in the future. Another weakness I have is having a bad attitude.
Everyone has hundreds of habits currently, so this part of the process shouldn 't be hard. Based on B.J. Fogg and Charles Duhigg, there’s three steps to creating a new habit. First, you must pick a small action. Instead of going all the with saying you will lose five hundred pounds, you could say you will walk more or drink a smoothie more or cut out fast food for example. Therefore, the ultimate goal will be more approachable through small baby steps instead of changing your whole lifestyle abruptly.
It’s very likely that you usually pay more attention to your shortcomings than your strong points. You customarily devote yourself to overcoming your limitations.” (Gallup, n.d., p. 5). This statement is very true; I am a very motivated individual, and I am always trying to better myself. I am a person that does not focus on my strengths, but on my weaknesses that I need to improve.
“The Seven Habits of a Highly Effective Teen” is a self-help book written by Sean Covey in 1998. This book has sold more than 2 millions of copies and also, in 2000, it was named as one of the American Library Association “Popular Paperback for Young Adults”. If you are a teenager, you’d better buy this book. The author definitely understands what is like to be a teen, so he decided to write 7 habits that improve a teen development. “If The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens doesn’t help you, then you must have a perfect life already”; this is what a boy called Jacob McLaughlin said and I am totally agreed with it.
To overcome changing habits, I will have my family help me keep check on what I eat. For the area of alcohol/ drug and tobacco use my health promotion is to limit my exposure to secondhand smoke. For sleep/rest, my health promotion is to make
CHAPTER 11. HOT SPOTS, CPTED, & SCP Routine Activities Theory Different lifestyles equate to different risks of being victimized (Vold et al., 2002). The spatial and temporal characteristics of each person’s normal, legal, and daily activities, known as routine activities, affect the amount and type of illegal activities that the person is exposed to in certain areas (Akers and Sellers, 2009; Cohen and Felson, 2004). For example, if there are a lot of people congregated in a certain spot, such as inside a home, that spot will be less attractive to criminals.
In today’s modern society, which is full with all sorts of luxury and the stress of having the American dream, people tend to stress and overwork their body to achieve success and the luxury life yet, they tend to forget to take care of their health and wellbeing. Chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes are placing an increasing burden on U.S. healthcare system. Healthcare organizations has introduced Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), which is used to help patients better manage their chronic illnesses, better their lifestyle and decrease healthcare costs. This CDSMP was created to help individuals build up their confidence in their ability to take control of their health and also learn how their health condition
In “Strengths Finder 2.0,” Tom Rath informs us that, “You cannot be anything you want to be- but you can be a lot more of who you already are” (Rath p9). I agree with him in the fact that we must focus on our strengths rather than trying to better our weaknesses in order to become successful. So many people today put their attention towards improving their weaknesses that they are surpass by others who focus on their strengths. After learning my own personal strengths, I have a better understanding of who I am and how to focus on these both in school and in the workforce.
I strongly value my health and believe that health is our greatest form of wealth. When one lives a healthy lifestyle, it means more opportunities to explore the world, build families, achieving anything the heart desires and conquering personal goals. The behavior change philosophy fits my personal philosophy of health education the most because it involves goal setting, behavioral contracts and self-monitoring to help foster the modification of an unhealthy habit. The behavior change philosophy is very important because change is a process, not an event. Self-efficacy and motivation are key factors in successful behavior changes.
For example, I struggled to establish a consistent exercise routine, but by linking it to my morning cup of coffee, I created a habit stack that made it easier to follow through. After finishing my coffee,
In the short stories we have read there have been numerous themes. The impact of tradition, the value of heritage, the importance of family, the divide between social classes, and the presence of love are all ideas that can be found in the stories we have read. Short stories have managed to encapture the importance and true meaning of life in just a few sentences by imposing on the readers themes we can all relate to. A common theme presented in Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use” and Toni Cade Bambara’s “The Lesson” is the power of knowledge and education. In “Everyday Use,” two sister Dee and Maggie have different views on how they should preserve and honor their heritage.
Self-introduction. Almost every one of us are so busy chasing our dream. Thinking about what we wish to have. But does anyone of you really thought about your personal health.
This is what makes me a very observant person. Everybody has weaknesses, but it is up to us whether we want to keep those weaknesses or overcome it. I mentioned that my weaknesses is overthinking, perfectionist and arrogant. Actually my weaknesses are interconnected with one another.
Apart from being socially active and maintaining good relations with people, it is important to peep within yourself. Spend some time with you so that you can better understand your needs and live your life in the right direction. This is an important step in maintaining your overall health. "What you are eating is not only related to health, but what you are thinking and what you are saying is also related to health.
My three habits I have three main habits that have been with me throughout my entire life. My first habit is I am very good at managing my time, and turning in assignments on time. My second habit is being responsible with all of my assignments as well as doing work around my house. My third and final habit is that I am very trustworthy when working in groups or getting tasks done when asked to do them at home. These habits have really impacted my life and have brought me forward to success.
