Political ads are a way to persuade you to vote for one political party or the other. Every 4 years, there is an election between democrats and republicans that will help decide the next president of the United States. These campaigns between the democrats and the republicans are the strategies candidates use to win your vote. During the election season, there is many speeches made by both the people who are running for president. Debates between the two sides can sway your vote to one side or the other depending on what the candidates say. During the election year of 1984, Walter Mondale was the democratic nominee for president. Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman nominated to run as a vice presidential candidate by a major party. Mondale used the strategy of testimonials or endorsements as his political propaganda, targeting retired people, paperworkers, and Asian Americans. The information of Mondale to have used this type of propaganda is in his ads, such as “Asian Americans for Mondale Ferraro” and “Retirees Support Mondale-Ferraro” (Doc A). This strategy is not informative because there is no evidence that Mondale will do anything for retired people or Asian Americans. This strategy is very informative because many people will be able to see these shirts and sticker from other people or in stores. This might have persuaded them to vote one side or the other. During these few weeks democrats and Republicans Who are running for president were engaged in a battle to win the Iowa caucus. The state of Iowa hosted the first official vote of the 2016 campaign. During the Iowa caucus, different tactics and strategies were used by both parties to gain votes, through the use of persuasion ,repugnant comments, and the use of the media. I think the clip about Ronald Reagan is the most effective. It showcases what Reagan has achieved as President. Rather than making promises about what he will do or attacking the other candidate the ad simply talks about how the country has improved with him leading it. No, none of the ads really crossed any lines so to speak but the “Daisy” one did come pretty close by basically saying if you voted for Goldwater then the world will die in nuclear fire, however it was a different time. As for negative ads, they can, if not executed correctly cause a backlash that can hurt the other candidate.

I have to make 3 separate papers for a reliable source, unreliable source, and comparison of two sources that would be presented in class. This project was a great learning experience because I get to learn and identify the differences between reliable and unreliable sources. From this project, I really struggled with finding the right unreliable source because it was harder to find on the search results.
In the article, “Some Teens Start College Work Early Via Dual Enrollment” written by Joanne Jacobs,from the U.S. News and World Report Education, discussed a current path that most high schoolers are taking that will lead them to college success. Jacobs uses ethos and logos to prove the successfulness of the Dual Enrollment Program. The program offers students the opportunity to experience college life, to gain both high school and college credit, and to gain confidence. In most states, high school students who want to take a college class need to attend the class in a community college with regular undergraduates.

A major theme in A&P is personal freedom. Throughout the story Updike uses metaphor for all elements in the story to implies the theme. At the beginning of the story, Sammy uses sarcastic tone to describe the customers as “sheep” and “houseslaves” which implies he is different from them in mindset. Obama had to persuade his voters to stick with him. Obama used repetition, allusion and many others to get his point across to the audience. In his speech in which he is talking on racism and cultural differences he uses repetition to further emphasize his point.

Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability.
