2.2 What Are The Benefits Of Actively Promoting Positive Aspects Of Behaviour?

If all members of the school community are using the same principles and techniques when managing behaviour, it is much more likely that the children will respond in a positive way. The children will know the range of rewards and dispensations, and the order in which they will be used, no matter who is speaking to them about their behaviour. Workforce re-modelling has had an impact on a number of different professionals who are now working in schools. Support staff and midday supervisors, as well as those running extended school provision, should know the importance and impact of consistent methods. It is also important that support staff are given status within the school so that they are respected in the same way as fully qualified teaching

Propriety and behaviour- While working with pupils it is essential for staff member to behave in an appropriate and professional manner at all times we it is their responsibility to set a good example for the pupil of the school. Teachers and their assistants are often seen as role models therefore it is an important part of the job to set a respectful and friendly example to which their pupils will intern mirror. Working within a school setting, all staff member have a duty of care to their pupils, this means that pupils need to be protected from any harm or danger and regular risk assessments have to take place to ensure the school is a safe environment for the pupils . Also before employing any new staff members the school has to organise  DBS checks to  be done before they can begin to work in the school. Whistle blowing-

At Preschool our policies and procedures are stored in our filing cabinet, which i am able to view at anytime. It is important that i am aware of our policies and procedures and that i follow them at all times. Health & safety, I must record any accidents in our accident book, and myself or the manger would get the Parent/carer to check what we have recorded, and sign to say that they have been made aware of the Incident I do regular checks of the inside and outside area to make sure that all equipment is safe for use and in good working order for the children to use without risk of harm We have a safeguarding folder and it is my responsibility to know what the practises are towards safeguarding, if there are any updates, we are always given copies of these to read through, and the changes are discussed at our staff meetings

The children in a school are valued, with an environment that fully encourages and celebrates their learning and progression and how they are developing. The provision of a safe and secure learning environment for all its pupils should be provided through recognizing the importance of welcoming diversity and equal opportunities. The atmosphere within a school should be positive, with this being reflected in the attitudes of the staff and pupils, all caring for and taking pride in their surroundings and in how the learning journey of each pupil takes

Legislation is put in place to ensure that schools operate fairly and lawfully. Schools have rules and guidelines that they have to follow to ensure children and staff are kept safe in the working and learning environment. Children need to be protected from abuse and abusive material. Legislations are set in place to protect them and strict rules need to be followed. Security checks are done on all staff members working with children.

However, it is just as important to recognise and reward positive behaviour by those children who always behave well. By emphasising positive behaviour in the classroom and explaining why, e.g. “look at child X, who is listening well, as they always do”, we are encouraging this behaviour, as we recognise and praise the child for behaving well. This can then improve the behaviour of other children as it is promoting a positive role

5.1 The policies and procedures provide advice and information to the staff, pupils, parents/carers and everyone else involved in working with the school. They ensure that the staff and pupils are aware of what is expected of them. In addition to this, clear policies and procedures also ensure a consistent and appropriate response to the situations arising in the school. There are some policies and procedures that the schools are required to hold by law. These are mentioned in the document entitled "Statutory policies for Schools" provided by the Department of Education.

Within the school environment the ethos of the school should be noticed upon entering and the daily performance of the staff and pupils who attend and work for the school. All the staff that work in the environment have an important responsibly when it comes to children as children and young people are influenced by the behaviour they see from their role models, which can be teachers, family members and friends and teaching assistants such as myself. They are influenced by not just my behaviour but every adult within the setting, so everyone needs to make sure that they are not displaying negative behaviour or displaying a negative way of dealing with certain people or incidents involving others, otherwise this could affect other younger children

Schools must make the school environment one in which young people can learn and students are safe. School officials need to be enabled to enforce discipline and the upholding of the schools rules. Teachers and principals are acting for the parents of the students. Parents do not need a warrant to search their children. School officials are not the police.

There are many different roles and purposes of these roles within schools. When it comes to school governors it can be said that they have a number of duties within the school they are attached to. This ultimately is ensuring the school upholds a high standard of academic achievement. This can be done and filtered into many different duties which can include, setting various targets and improvements for the school, overseeing school finances, having a well balances and broad curriculum, the hiring of staff which includes reviewing their performance and pay etc. (Queens Inclosure Primary School, 2016).

Legislations affect how schools work by ensuring that pupils, staff, parents, and visitors are safe in the school setting. The legislation in schools allows pupils and staff to be aware of their rights within the school setting. The legislations are put in place to ensure that children are in a safe environment to learn and continue learning. Behaviour policies are a legal requirement and an important part of an educational setting. It is also a framework which all members of staff must implement within their practice. It lays out the expectations of all children in the setting and the consequences of their actions if they are not in line with the expectations. It should also have reference to any health and safety aspects as well as safeguarding.
