A person who used these important devices was Elie Wiesel. In his 1986 Nobel Peace Acceptance Speech, Elie Wiesel develops the claim that remaining silent on human sufferings makes us just as guilty as those who inflicted the suffering and remain guilty for not keeping the memory of those humans alive. Elie Wiesel voiced his emotions and thoughts of the horrors done to Jewish people during World War II whilst developing his claim. Wiesel “remember[s] his bewilderment,” “his astonishment,” and “his anguish” when he saw they were dropped into the ghetto to become slaves and to be slaughtered. He repeats the words “I remember” because he and the world, especially those who suffered in the ghettos and camps, would never be able to forget how innocent suffered. Wiesel’s speech shows how he worked to keep the memory of those people alive because he knows that people will continue to be guilty, to be accomplices if they forget. Furthermore, Wiesel knows that keeping the memory of those poor, innocent will avoid the repetition of the atrocity done in the future. The stories and experiences of Wiesel allowed for people to see the true horrors of what occurs when people who keep silence become “accomplices” of those who inflict pain towards humans. Imagine seeing a pit full of dead babies used as target practice for the german soldiers. Well during the holocaust the Jew’s and Elie Wiesel experienced this. The Holocaust was a genocide during World War 2 in which Nazi Germany, aided by its collaborators, systematically murdered approximately 6 million Europeans Jews. These people were put in camps, separated from theirre family;, they had camps just for men and women they were seperated. All the children that aren't healthy and strong they would kill them and the babies were used as shooting practice.
In his speech, The Perils of Indifference, Elie Wiesel suggests that during the years of what was to become World War II, before America finally became involved in the conflict, that the people in power at that time knew about the plight of the Jewish people. “And now we knew, we learned, we discovered that the Pentagon knew, the State Department knew.” (Wiesel, 1999) Wiesel speaks of the deaths of millions of innocent victims at the hands of Adolf Hitler. They were, as Wiesel says earlier in the speech, “bystanders” (Wiesel, 1999) and were doing nothing to intervene.

Elie Wiesel was not apart of that appalling statistic and credits luck for his survival, although his experiences were no less tragic. Elie Wiesel himself writes that he is not sure how or why he survived however, went on to accomplish many things with the chance he was given in honor of those who lost their lives. Only the present matters.” German forces at concentration camps echoed this sentiment to many persecuted ethnic Jews, attempting to shed their last shred of individuality. Elie Wiesel did not follow the words of his oppressors. Instead, Elie learned the importance of memory, despite the repeated attempts at stripping away his identity.

The well-known author Elie Wiesel’s dystopian society presents a world in which there is no rightness in anything with people being treated as if not humans and they soon become dehumanized while living in worst-case scenarios. The society is an illusion to a perfect utopian world to the offenders but to the others they are literally living in their worst nightmare. The Nazi supremacy is rising and they have a merciless hatred towards Jews. Elie Wiesel witnessed many horrific events and was ripped from his normal life when he was taken from his home and everyday routine by the Nazi Germans in 1944 just because of his religion, Judaism. The most important reason to study the Holocaust is to prevent history from repeating itself and to show the importance of preserving as much peace and faith in humanity as possible. The senseless murder of five to six million innocent people is something that society can never allow. Elie Wiesel is a survivor of the Holocaust, professor, political activist, Nobel Laureate, and the author of the book Night. In his book Wiesel gives an inside view of what it was like to live through that horrific time by vividly describing the killing, pain, and suffering the he witnessed and experienced himself. Wiesel convinces the readers to preserve any peace and faith that there is in the world.
Eliezer Weisel had a peaceful young soul, spending day and night learning Kabbalah and Talmud like if he didn’t, he’d have no reason to continue breathing. But at the age of fifteen, he was removed from his home in the Jewish ghetto abruptly, never to return again. While he and many others in his small town of Sighet were warned about the death and destruction to come, no one listened. When Eliezer Wiesel finally made it out of the dehumanizing death camps, that small worshipper who had gone in, would never come back out. Eliezer Wiesel is a survivor of the Holocaust; a hero.

The deadliest of all was known as Auschwitz, and it is where a fifteen year old Elie Wiesel was taken in 1944. He remained in concentration camps until liberation in 1945. By the end of World War Two, Wiesel had lost his faith in God and humanity after experiencing unspeakable horrors, such as the execution of children and the death of his father.

Bush’s address uses Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. They were invented and studied by the famous greek philosopher Aristotle. Ethos appeals to credibility, Logos appeals to logic or reason, and Pathos appeals to the audience’s feelings.

As a student who is familiar with the years of the holocaust that will forever live in infamy, Wiesel’s memoir has undoubtedly changed my perspective. Throughout the text, I have been emotionally touched by the topics of dehumanization, the young life of Elie Wiesel, and gained a better understanding of the Holocaust. With how dehumanization was portrayed through words, pondering my mind the most.
Finally, the author expresses the dangers in ignorance and forgetfulness, “Because if we forget who the guilty are, we are accomplices” (Wiesel). He also conveys how if we forget the guilty, we do not care about what crimes they put forth. We cannot be ignorant to the oppressors, for the effect is the same as to side with them. In conclusion, Elie Wiesel persuades the audience and expresses his bias on neutrality during World War II by using his authority and personal
