In 1787 the future of the United States of America remained unclear as the founding fathers attempted to find a form of government to satisfy the nation. At the Constitutional Convention the men gathered formed an idea for a new government. However, not everyone present agreed with the newly proposed constitution and two groups formed, the federalists, who were pro-constitution, and the antifederalists, who opposed the constitution. Because the Constitution needed to be ratified by nine of the thirteen states to become law the two groups wrote essays to defend their stance and persuade the people to join their ideology. Differing Views- Hamilton vs Jefferson In 1790s America was rocked by a conflict between the nation’s first political parties- the Federalists and the Republicans. The Federalist Party was formed of merchants, manufactureres, bankers, wealthy farmers and professional people and headed by Alexander Hamilton. Thomas Jefferson led the Republic party which was formed of small farmers, frontier settlers, shopkeepers and artisans. As such both the leaders held different views of revolutionary ideas and ideologies.

DBQ: Political Disputes 1820-1860 For forty-four years, the United States of America was a thriving country. We had won our independence from Great Britain and we had started to create a country that would change the world. Yet, in the year 1860, a joined country and political agreement between all states seemed utterly impossible. People fought with each other so deeply about slavery, the country was divided between slave and free states. By the time of 1820 through 1860, political disagreement grew so large, there had been only one answer.

At the start of the 1790s there was a disagreement on how the government should be run. The 3 people going at each other were Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. The tension between these two groups was aroused by the economical advancements, social developments, and cultural changes in the 1920s. These tensions were manifested by the economic outburst and the passing of certain laws.

Each one had their own view of how to do this, but it was a main goal of both politicians. Alexander Hamilton was a founding father and leader of the Federalist party. Hamilton vs. Jefferson Visions to Reality     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton both had very defined visions of the scope and power of the new federal government, how they saw the future of the economic development, and what the United States society should become. In my opinion Alexander Hamilton had more of an impact on the United States during the 1820’s and on contemporary government when compared to Thomas Jefferson. His policies did not strictly work during that time and many of his ideas are still seen in today’s society. Jefferson’s views and ideas on/of the national bank, higher tariffs, debt assumption, The Federalist Party, and his support of the ratification of the Constitution are all reasons in why his policies and visions came closer to becoming a reality.     Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, molded the gatherings that provoked to the twofold party system under which the U.S. works today.
