Turcotte was raised on North Dakota’s Turtle Mountain Reservation, in the migrant camps of the western U.S., and in Lansing, MI. He currently lives in Chicago, IL and Fish Creek, WI.

1993 Gwendolyn Brooks Open-Mic Poetry Award
1997 Josephine Gates Kelly Memorial Fellowship from the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers.
