Each essay I wrote took me several time to write, several drafts which show that I have improve every time I do the drafts to write a perfect masterpiece. I learned a lot of skills and techniques this quarter, which has helped me to improve and progress my writing skills for the future. I will remember the skills, techniques, and tips that professor gave us in this English class for my higher education. For example, all the time that I went to visit professor Sapozhnikov office hours to receive help on my out-of -class essays has helped me to improve, grow, and progress in my writing skills as a writer. Some of the significant changes I have made as I was progressing and growing were to develop a strong thesis to help support my claims as I write my essays, such as facts, observations, illustration, and examples. There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. As a College freshman in his second semester, I have learned to deal with the challenges that I have to deal with peaceful, yet exhilarating moment when my mind engages with an author’s thoughts on a page. As John Dewey states “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” What Dewey insists is from my early days in high school to my first year in college as a freshman, I wanted to know the full concept of English; however, I have now realized this subject would fill in my void of English with noteworthy complexities. This was not the case for most of my second semester in Montgomery College; I always had trouble in various parts of the subject, such as development in thesis statement, sentence writing and reflecting on previous essays. Writing a thesis statement had been one of my down falls in English.
English 102 through the Alabama Early College Program has taught me the importance of writing skills. When I first began online classes for English, I quickly started learning techniques that I needed to keep up throughout the semester. Each assignment and essay is due at midnight, therefore starting or finishing an assignment early allows the writer enough time to turn in the assignment. Throughout the five modules, I have learned how to write an argument and rhetorical analysis, conduct research and write an exploratory essay. In each module, I learned writing techniques and skills that I never knew before.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
On many levels my style of writing has changed, I believe that I have got a lot better in my writing. It’s still very clear that I have a lot of areas that I need to work on. At first, I couldn’t actually believe the grade that I received on my diagnostic essay, that grade gave me hope that I would be able to past this class. Overall, I believe that I have improved or changed in these areas, writing in a style that clearly communicates meaning, builds credibility, and inspires belief or action, developing ideas and synthesize primary and secondary sources within focused academic arguments, including one or more research- based essays, and formulating a thesis and argument appropriate for an academic audience that analyzes literature and/or
Reflection English 101 was a great experience for me. I learned a lot about forming a proper essay. From the introduction, the thesis, the body, down to the conclusion. Grammatically, I learned the proper usage of commas. Prior to taking this course, I thought that you use a comma wherever you take a breath.
This past year in English has been rewarding and self-fulfilling. I entered the year as a new and improved Poppers in writing essays. A glance at my first paper- an essay on Ender's Game- and my last one in 9th grade, the This I Believe essay, is a great example of the incredible differences in my writing which quickly improved as a freshman. However, entering sophomore year I was struck with the false belief that I was done learning about how to write and that from then on would just be about gaining more experience. How wrong I was.
I as a writer would keep on working by going back and analyzing writing assignments. The semester in English 1101 I have had the privilege to learn the main points of the writing processes. Furthermore what helped me get through the
English 102 Reflection During the course of English 102, I took this year of the spring semester. I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were impossible. I have not only grown as a writer and a student but as an individual as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have achieved knowledge and self-confidence to step out into the real world.
While self-accessing my overall performance in English 111, I would say I have done fairly well. I learned a lot about English and mostly about myself. I learned what I needed to work on and improve. Reflecting on my overall performance, I will start by explaining my participation in class, my performance in two areas, how I transitioned into the role of a college student during the semester, what process I used to be successful in English 111, and my overall skill development. This past semester has been a real challenge for me, as well as a huge eye opener.
English 1121 has helped me to become an enhanced reader and writer. I now have confidence in my writing and reading abilities. I never realized that I could become a good writer. A tremendous amount of effort was put forth into each of my papers and I asked questions whenever I was frazzled. I strived for success.
Five years from now I will definitely remember AP English 11. In five years, I will look back at the daunting task of writing a speech and present it to the class. The final speech was a task that required me to leave my comfort zone: I had to share the reason why I dedicated a large portion of my time to practicing. In addition, It was an assignment that I have never done before. When I look back, I will be grateful for the opportunity to overcome one of my fears-public speaking.
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
I believe that through this past semester, my writing knowledge, and writing ability has grown significantly. I hope to continue growing my knowledge about writing throughout the rest of my days in school and the rest of my
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
We wrote four paper assignments this quarter, two of them about the story we read in class, one from a story and outside material and one about English 101 class at itself which is this paper. We must submit the rough draft before the due date of the assignment, which helps us to have clarification from our instructor and from a classmate. I am always improving after each paper I wrote, because I follow up with the comment I received, edit my paper then make an appointment with my instructor before I submit my final draft. These comments make me feel confident in the next paper. Writing in something that you can improve your knowledge and the way of thinking, comparing to my papers, I will discuss how I developed revisions strategies, learned proper citation, and how pre-writing can help improve my writing.
