1.3 Explain the impact of adolescent development on a young persons thoughts, feelings and behaviours. During puberty the body will go through many changes and a young person will start to become more aware of their body and their personal appearance. As they go through these changes a young person will also try to find their identity but still want to fit in with their peers which may have an influence on their likes and dislikes. They will also become more sensitive to their feelings being highly emotional/upset or easily frustrated over minor issues. These emotional changes also cause mood swings resulting in young people becoming irritable or moody at times and not wanting to converse, this is also due to the hormonal changes …show more content…
Breasts will develop along with their hormones, which can cause mood swings. Girls will also start to be more aware of their physical appearance and their sexual orientation. Intellectual development is where young persons thought process will change as they start to have a different outlook on life. Young people can often see things as black and white and may not always understand that things may not be, as they seem. As they go through this stage young people will begin to solve problems more easily and have an appreciation of other people’s views and opinions. However as they are still inexperienced in life a young person may appear immature at times with regards to their ways of thinking and speech. During the Emotional Development stage, a young person will begin to spend less time with their parents and want to spend more time with their friends socialising instead. A young person may also feel conflicted at times, as they will want the affection from parents, however this is usually short lived as the young person will then also reject it when it is given. This is due to wanting to be independent but at the same time unsure of how to fully go about this. It is also known for teenagers to be risk takers during this stage and push
For instance, teenagers are at the in between stage of where they are trying to grow up and leave their childhood behind. Although they are still living at home under their parents rules, they need all the preparation they could get since they will be leaving their homes soon. In the article, Tethered teens: Becoming too dependent on parents,” Gregory Ramey states “Teens become used to contacting their parents to deal with a myriad of minor issues.” In other words, this transition is more difficult than it has to be when teenagers are clinged onto their parents. As teenagers get older they must learn to be independent so they won't be caught by surprise when they face the reality of things not always being done for them.
There comes a time is everyone’s life when they reach the point where they are no longer considered children, but adults. This transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the "coming of age;” which is different in everyone, since experiences different circumstances during this stage. According to Eric Erikson, there are eight different social stages a person must go through as they mature. Each stage has a positive and negative outcome. One of these includes stage 5 where it is reached when an adolescent is going through puberty where their body is changing and they are just trying to come to figuring out who exactly they are.
The concept of adulthood represents not only the sum of one's experiences, but also the determination of one's place within society. Adulthood is formed through the experiences of the individual. These experiences catalyze the acceptance of a social role, as opposed to title or paycheck. Finally, the acceptance of an individual's social role initiates a process of social unity. In this way, the sum of a person's experience and the changes that result from said experiences present the evolution of child into adult.
The environment is oftens change therefore people also change to adapt to different phases. I agree with Christopher McCandless about making a change in his life. In my opinion, the young children like discovering new things and they want to study much knowledge. The teenagers are more hyperactive than adult and old stage. For example, the children are usually naughty with works in house or school.
Each year, day, and second, people gradually get more mature but it occurs quickly or gradually in various people. Maturity can be linked with a considerable amount of different things and it brings people to begin to act like adults. Maturity is not dependent on a person’s age because it depends on the person’s experiences in life and who they surround themselves with. People get more mature based off of their experiences in life.
Another example would be a nursing child. A child cannot nurse at their mother's breast forever, there must come a point when they eat solid food. Sames goes with emotional development. Furthermore, as a child moves from infancy into early childhood and middle childhood some interesting emotional behaviors begin to develop. For instance, prosocial behaviors like empathy and sympathy, which are known as behaviors that inspire aid and concern for others, begin to blossom (Bigner, 2014).
Arnett has provided enough detail about the stage and how it is successful in some cultures compare to the other. This article has also shown how emerging adulthood stage helps prepare adolescence for better future and help them explore their identity while getting them ready for adulthood. This comes with the disadvantage because some young people can take longer till they fully contribute to society. This is a type of a luxury that can’t be afforded by everyone.
Q1.3 Explain the impact of adolescent development on a young person’s thoughts, feelings and behaviours A1.3 Adolescence is a time of great change for young people when physical changes are happening at an accelerated rate. Puberty is accompanied by physical, psychological and emotional changes adapted to ensure reproductive and parenting success. But adolescence is not just marked by physical changes – young people are also experiencing cognitive, social/emotional and interpersonal changes as well. It marks a transition in risks for depression and other common mental disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders and anti social behaviours. As they grow and develop young people are influenced by outside factors, such as their environment, culture, religion, school and the media.
Coming of age can be a big deal in someone’s life. Coming of age means there will be a lot of changes not only when it comes to your physical appearance but the way you deal with everyday situations in life. You may also acquire a new skill set with your coming of age which we’ll talk about later on. Now with your coming of age you will obviously act more mature when placed in certain situations in life. Back when you were a kid and got into an argument you would settle your arguments on the playground aka (fight it out).
Becoming more independent at everything one does is a rite of passage. Every teen experiences this at some point in their lives. For me, this rite of passage was earning my driver's license. By completing the process of getting my driver's license, I would be able to take myself to all of my activities. This relieved my parents of a few less duties from their very busy lives.
Adolescent Actions and Their Effects on Maturation. “How often I have found that we grow to maturity not by doing what we like, but by doing what we should.” -Karl Rahner. From birth a child learns, matures, and grows every day. But how they grow, learn, and mature is dependent on their surroundings and their actions.
When someone is still in their childhood phase, they are unfamiliar with their emotions and behavior and are unable
Children differ in cognitive , social, physical and emotional development pattern. They may differ in response for the same objet or play or affection or people. Some always appear to be active and happy and other appear to be dull and unhappy. It is found that some children are easier to like. To help all kinds of children, it is required to understand the sequence of development pattern.
It is the period where most developments such as physical changes, social developments, and developments of moral reasoning take place. A substantial amount of cognitive development also takes place at this stage. As such, parents and guardians should relax childhood restrictions and allow their children to be more involved in making decisions that affect their lives. However, as some of the teenagers might not have established commitments to a particular identity, parents should retain their roles as sources of support, guidance, and comfort to their
I believe the individuals in the documentary Identity: In & Beyond the Binary fit the DSM-5 criteria for Gender Dysphoria. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the Mental Disorders (2013), in children, a strong desire to be of the other gender or an insistence that one is the other gender, a strong preference for wearing clothes typical of the opposite gender, a strong preference for the toys, games or activities stereotypically used or engaged in by the other gender and a strong desire for the physical sex characteristics that match one’s experienced gender fit the criteria. These are the feelings all the individual from the video were describing they felt when they were young.
